Die Rise Maxis Side Easter Egg Guide: Complete the High Maintenance Quest
The High Maintenance easter egg for Call of Duty: Black Ops II – Die Rise can be tackled from either storyline perspective: you can complete it using Maxis or Richtofen. If you’re specifically trying to finish the Maxis-side Die Rise quest, this walkthrough breaks the process down step by step, including where to locate each required item, how to interpret the puzzle inputs, and what to do at every stage. Because the quest is a lot to juggle, treat this as a checklist and follow each phase in order rather than skipping ahead.
Richtofen’s version of the Die Rise easter egg has also gotten smoother thanks to a comprehensive “main quest” guide for Black Ops 2 Zombies, aimed at reducing uncertainty around the trickier beats of the run.
The Die Rise easter egg is designed for four players, though there’s an exception: on PC using Plutonium, the process can be handled differently via mod support. One option mentioned for solo play is downloading BO2-Full-Solo-Mods, which changes the elevator-symbol step so it can auto-finish when you stand on the correct elevator marker. It also makes the dragon-symbol phase scale with player count, and it improves the Trample Steam requirement so it’s less punishing than the original multiplayer pacing.

Die Rise Maxis Side Easter Egg Steps Overview
- Build the Tramplesteam.
- Build the NAV Card Table.
- Turn on the Power.
- Activate 4 elevator symbols at the same time.
- Activate 4 floor symbols in the correct sequence.
- Use a Sniper Rifle on the orbs in the dragon statue’s mouths.
- Kill zombies in the Buddha Room and use a Pack-a-Punch Ballistic Knife on the floor.
- Place 4 Tramplesteams on 4 symbols of lions on the floor.
- Find 8 Mahjong Tiles and translate their symbols into the correct order.
- Use Galvaknuckles to punch the pylon in the correct sequence.
Step #1: Build the Tramplesteam
The Tramplesteam consists of four components. You can find all of them in the lobby’s spawn area and in the hallway just outside the first door. After you pick up each part, take the escalators down to the lower level, where a crafting setup is available to assemble the Tramplesteam.
Chicken Wire
- Located to the left of the left statue in the lobby.
- Located on the left after opening the first door between the statues.
Motor
- Found at the reception desk in the lobby.
- Past the doors between the statues, to the right of the elevator in the hallway.
Bellows
- On the left stairs in the lobby.
- Underneath the painting, beyond the door between the statues.
Flag
- On a chair beside the Olympia Wall-Buy in the lobby.
- On the railing before the escalator in the room after the lobby.
Step #2: Turn on the Power
Starting from spawn—after you’ve built the Tramplesteam—head down the stairs and move over to the neighboring building that features the dragon statue. From there, go through the building and into the large interior room with sewing machines, where you’ll find the power switch.
Step #3: Build the Nav Card Table
You can construct the Nav Card Table on the rooftop area where the dragon statue stands (the guide references an image showing the spot). There are four parts to collect, and they’re all located underneath that rooftop zone.
115 Meteorite
- Found near a pile of garbage on the floor, situated between two windows and the air-conditioning units.
Wooden Table
- The Wooden Table is directly behind the Nav Card Table, beneath the large dragon statue.
Radio
- The Radio sits in the right corner near the crashed water tower.
Power Box
The Power Box can be found in dead man’s corner, positioned to the right of the zombie barrier.
Step #4: Stand on the Elevator Symbols
At this point, every player must locate an elevator and stand on the symbol displayed on top of the elevator at the exact same time. While you’re standing on the correct markers, they will glow. If you’re playing solo with the mod, you only need to stand on a single symbol.
The relevant elevator markers can be found in these places:
- Above the Quick Revive elevator, outside the spawn room.
- To the left of the Tramplesteam crafting table.
- To the right of the Power Switch.
- At the elevator near the MP5 Wall-Buy.
Step #5: Stand on the Floor Symbols in the Correct Order
After the elevator step, you’ll see four symbols appear on the floor. Your task is to stand on the symbols until one of them begins to glow. The first symbol that lights up becomes the first entry in your sequence. Then move to the next symbol—if it glows, it’s the second entry. However, if you step onto the wrong one, the active symbols reset back to the starting state.
- In front of the Quick Revive elevator outside of spawn.
- In the center of the cafeteria.
- On the roof ledge near the showers.
- On the edge of the rooftop where the pylon is located.
Your main strategy here is trial-and-error: step onto each floor symbol and learn the order by watching which one lights up, until all four are glowing at once.
Step #6: Use a Sniper to Shoot Orbs Out of the Dragon’s Mouths
This stage requires a Sniper Rifle with a scope. The guide points out an SVU-AS Wall-Buy in the department store. Once you have a sniper, aim toward the roof above the Nav Card Table, where two dragon statues are visible. Each dragon statue has an orb in its mouth—shooting the orb triggers fireworks and advances the quest.
Step #7: Kill 15 Zombies in the Buddha Room
Go to the Buddha Room and get 15 kills within that area. This is described as one of the simpler parts of the quest: keep eliminating zombies, and wait for a Maxis quote to play, which confirms you’ve reached the required kill count and can move forward.
Step #8: Use a Pack-a-Punch Ballistic Knife in the Buddha Room
Next, spin the Mystery Box until you obtain the Ballistic Knife. Once you have it, bring it to Pack-a-Punch and upgrade it. Then return to the Buddha Room and use the upgraded Ballistic Knife to shoot the floor, a wall, or a zombie until you hear a Maxis confirmation quote.
Step #9: Place Tramplesteams on the Four Lion Symbols
You’ll see four floor symbols, and each one corresponds to a lion statue. The objective is to have every player place a Tramplesteam on a lion statue, with each TrampleSteam facing toward the pylon direction indicated by the dragon statues. You’ll know you did it correctly when the TrampleSteam stays flat and doesn’t fling you.
- In the lobby (spawn), to the left of the stairs.
- In the lobby, at the bottom of the escalator before the door.
- On the rooftop between the two elevators, on the dragon statue side.
- In dead man’s corner on the rooftop with the dragon statue.
After placing the Tramplesteams facing the pylon, head back to spawn and interact with the lion statues on either side of the door to pick up an orb. You can then place one orb on a Tramplesteam and place the other orb on a different Tramplesteam. When done properly, all four Tramplesteams will throw the orbs back and forth, and the pylon will switch to an orange glow.
For solo players using the mod, the requirement is reduced: place two Tramplesteams on opposite sides (one in the lobby and one on the roof), then put one orb on each to complete the step.
Step #10: Find the Mahjong Tiles and Activate the Pylon
Now you need to locate 8 Mahjong Tiles. There are 11 potential spawn points for these tiles. Four tiles represent directions (north, east, south, west), and four represent numbers (1, 2, 3, 4).
Your goal is to identify a matching set of Mahjong tiles that share the same color. For example, if “North + 1” is Blue, then North corresponds to the first direction. On the other hand, if “South + 4” is Green, those tiles match, meaning South is assigned as the fourth direction.
- Tile Spawn #1: On the railing directly on the pylon.
- Tile Spawn #2: On the reception desk in the spawn lobby.
- Tile Spawn #3: Bottom-left of the escalator in the lobby.
- Tile Spawn #4: On the destroyed stairs in the lobby hallway.
- Tile Spawn #5: On a plastic chair in dead man’s corner.
- Tile Spawn #6: On a kitchen counter on the top floor of the dragon statue building.
- Tile Spawn #7: On a table in the back-right area of the power room.
- Tile Spawn #8: On a shelf at the very bottom floor of the power room building.
- Tile Spawn #9: On a couch cushion in the upside-down hallway areas.
- Tile Spawn #10: On a ledge in the elevator shaft that leads to the Buddha Room.
- Tile Spawn #11: On the top floor of the Buddha Room in the top-right corner.
Once you’ve found all eight tiles and matched them by color, use the referenced image (from the guide) to translate the symbols into the correct direction and sequence. Then, purchase the Galvaknuckles, which are located below the elevator shaft toward the Buddha Room.
Return to the dragon statue rooftop. Each glowing orange beam on the pylon corresponds to a direction (north, east, south, west), and you must follow the Mahjong Tile results to determine which side of the pylon to strike first through fourth. The guide notes that it includes a directional input example so you don’t mess up the order.
When you hit the pylon in the correct sequence, it will glow orange. At that point, you can exit the match, and the Die Rise symbol in the lobby will glow orange as well—mirroring what happens in Tranzit.
