This side mission becomes available after finishing “Priority: The Citadel 2,” which refreshes the Citadel with a batch of newly available side quests, including this one. The Citadel serves as the galaxy’s main hub, and it will always be indicated in the western portion of the Milky Way map.

Meet the War Strategist

Once “Priority: The Citadel 2” is done, head to the Presidium Commons, then go specifically to the Apartments section in the southern portion of the map (the area marked with a 2 on the map screen).

From there, move to the right side to find a Salarian War Strategist waiting near the top of the stairs. He discusses efforts to obtain new Krogan mounts that could help the fight against the Reapers. Unfortunately, the mounts are considered extinct—though the conversation makes it clear that Commander Shepard isn’t exactly the type to let that stop the mission.

Find the Kakliosaur Fossil

Prerequisite: Complete “Priority: Geth Dreadnought”
Location: Argos Rho – Phoenix – Intai’sei

You can’t retrieve the required quest item until you complete “Priority: Geth Dreadnought” later in the story. After you unlock the quest objective, travel to the Argos Rho cluster, which sits in the southeastern part of the Milky Way and isn’t too far from the galactic core.

Next, fly northwest to the Phoenix system. The guide notes this jump costs roughly 270 fuel for a one-way trip.

In the Phoenix System, go to Intai’sei—listed as the third planet in that system. Scan the planet to verify there’s something worth recovering. Then enter orbit and fire a Probe at the correct location to obtain a Fossilized Kakliosaur.

Deliver the Kakliosaur Fossil

With the Fossilized Kakliosaur in your inventory, return to the Salarian War Strategist in the Apartments and talk to him again to complete the side mission. Finishing the quest grants +5 Reputation, awards 15,000 credits, and increases the Krogan Clans War Asset by adding 40 TMS.
