College Football 27 RTG: How to Use Cap Breaker Points via Max Potential
Before you even think about your first season in College Football 27’s Road to the Glory mode, you’ll want to build your character with intention—especially when you start distributing Max Potential points. This part of the setup is essentially your career blueprint. Every Max Potential point you apply becomes the upper limit for specific attributes, shaping what your player can realistically become long before you take the field.
From there, you can push past those original targets using Cap Breaker points. These are the tools you use to raise the ceiling on attributes, letting you exceed the limits you originally set. Earning Cap Breakers is not instant—throughout your Road to the Glory career you’ll need to work for them—but there are defined ways to improve your odds, and this guide walks through what you need to know.
One more system matters here: Risk of Leaving. In College Football 27, this stat reflects how likely a player is to depart, and Dealbreaker is a major factor behind that risk.
How to Earn Cap Breaker Points in College Football 27
Cap Breaker points come from hitting major career milestones. In practice, these are big, high-visibility achievements—things like winning the Heisman Trophy or setting records at a national level. The game’s Cap Breaker objectives include the following:
- Win the Heisman Trophy
- Win a National Championship
- Become an All-American
- Break School, Conference, or National records in your position
- Become the Offensive or Defensive Nation Player of the Week
Good news: the objectives above aren’t one-and-done. They are repeatable, meaning you can earn Player of the Week more than once and receive Cap Breaker points each time you complete the requirement.
Cap Breaker points do have limits, though. Over the course of your entire Road to the Glory career, you can only collect up to 25 Cap Breaker points. If you want to check your progress, open the Player tab in RTG mode, then choose Player Info. The top-right corner of the screen shows how many Cap Breakers you currently have available, marked with a purple icon.
There’s also a ceiling on the ceiling: each attribute can only be boosted by up to 5 Cap Breaker points total. How much a Cap Breaker increases an attribute’s maximum depends on where that attribute is currently sitting.
For instance, if your Max Potential for an attribute is already near 95, adding a Cap Breaker might raise the ceiling by just 1 point. But if the current cap is lower—say around 80—then a single Cap Breaker can increase the ceiling by multiple units, giving you more growth per point in that situation.
Because Cap Breaker points are earned one at a time through difficult objectives, spending them carefully is critical. You can’t respec your Cap Breakers later, so once you commit, your build is effectively locked in. That’s why it’s smart to map out an ideal player concept ahead of time, then decide which attributes you want to prioritize the most before the grind begins.
And if you’re not trying to raise an attribute that’s already near its existing cap, you don’t need to pay for extra ceiling with Cap Breaker points. In most cases, it’s better to invest those boosts into the key stats that match your position. For example, a Wide Receiver should aim for the highest possible speed rather than spreading Cap Breakers into less relevant areas.
