Dragon Ball Shares Fresh Promo Art for Goku’s Next Transformation and Villain
Dragon Ball is keeping early July packed with official updates, and the latest batch comes in the form of fresh promotional art. The franchise has shared new looks at Goku’s next transformation and also revealed new artwork for one of its main villains, continuing what has already been a steady run of announcements across the brand.
Release window: Xenoverse 2 DLC hits July 8; Xenoverse 3 is slated for 2027
One of the biggest items in this busy stretch is the final downloadable content drop for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The game’s last DLC is scheduled for July 8, and it lands the same day that Beerus—the God of Destruction—also makes his debut in Dragon Ball: Gekishin Squadra. The franchise’s calendar doesn’t stop there either: later this year, additional anime releases are planned, including a new adaptation of the Galactic Patrol and a remake tied to Dragon Ball Super that focuses on Beerus.
Just because the DLC schedule is winding down doesn’t mean the franchise is slowing its pace. Ahead of that concluding Xenoverse 2 release, fans have been treated to another set of visuals—this time spotlighting Goku’s new form and new artwork for Fu.
There are plenty of Super Saiyan variations, each one presented as a step further than the last. Still, it’s not guaranteed that every Saiyan has the ability or opportunity to actually access and use the most powerful versions of those transformations.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 shows off Ultra Superhero Goku and Ultra Supervillain Fu
The Xenoverse 2 DLC being teased includes an updated artwork gallery, and before the July 8 release, Dragon Ball reporter Jenik—also known as ContonMods—shared several of the images that are set to be included. One of the visuals centers on Demon Fu. In Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Fu’s role is tied to corrupting others and reshaping them into Ultra Supervillains.
Another image focuses on the resulting Ultra Supervillain lineup, featuring Ultra Supervillain-style forms of Vegeta, Frieza, Jiren, and others. The standout piece in the set is the new Ultra Superhero transformation for Goku, shown in the image that was shared alongside the rest of the gallery previews.
Goku’s Ultra Superhero explained: crystal-like power and a direct contrast to Ultra Supervillain
As established in the Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 DLC trailer, Ultra Superhero is positioned as a counter to Ultra Supervillain. The transformation also comes with a visual difference: Ultra Superhero includes an embedded crystal and a greenish-blue aura, while Ultra Supervillain is portrayed with a purplish-red aura.
The newly shared image adds another detail to the look. It suggests Goku’s right arm becomes fully crystal, which implies the DLC could feature even more crystallization as it progresses. With DBZ power-scaling always pushing transformations toward higher ceilings, the presentation strongly suggests this may be Goku’s most powerful form yet—especially framed as a variant of Ultra Instinct.
After a decade of support, the final Xenoverse 2 DLC is a send-off—Xenoverse 3 is already confirmed
Even with the excitement around a brand-new transformation and a closing DLC, there’s a bittersweet note to the timing. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been supported by developer CyberConnect 2 and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment since the game launched in late 2016—meaning the project has effectively lasted a full decade. This final DLC functions as a goodbye to Xenoverse 2, but the next step is already on the roadmap.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is confirmed to release in 2027 and is set to continue the adventures of the Time Patrol in Age 1000. At the moment, details remain limited beyond a few gameplay elements, but the announcement at least points to a fresh chapter rather than a simple continuation of the same content loop.
It’s also worth noting that the reveal conversation around Xenoverse 3 includes claims that it will add Time Gods of Destruction—characters reportedly capable of destroying entire timelines. They’re said to resemble dinosaurs, which would be a major escalation for both the story and the power levels involved.
If the playable character’s power climbs alongside that kind of threat, then Ultra Superhero Goku likely isn’t the last time fans will see him. The franchise has a habit of keeping new forms in rotation once they land, and the timeline-destruction angle would make it even more likely that new Ultra-styled transformations continue to appear.
