Pokémon Go’s 10th Anniversary Broadcast Returns July 9—More Details Soon
Pokémon Go is gearing up for a major 10th anniversary broadcast this Thursday, July 9, with the promise that some of what’s coming next will be revealed—but the specifics are still being kept under wraps.
It’s been ten years since Pokémon Go first launched and quickly turned into a worldwide hit. Fans still remember that early trailer that showed players catching, trading, and even squaring off against a giant Mewtwo in Times Square. Now, a full decade later, millions continue to play daily—capturing, swapping, and battling through an ever-growing roster that has expanded to nearly 1,000 Pokémon.
What the next ten years will bring for Pokémon Go is unknown for the moment, though this special broadcast may finally offer some clues.
Niantic has invited Trainers worldwide to watch and celebrate, specifically calling out several groups: people who were among the first to experience the game back in 2016, long-time players who’ve been catching Pokémon for the past decade, and newcomers who are just starting their journey. The company also described the stream as a first-of-its-kind event for the mobile game.
More viewing information—where to watch and when to tune in—will be posted on Pokémon Go’s social channels on July 9. Niantic also says that throughout the day, multiple well-known content creators will go live as part of the celebration.
This timing lands during an especially active stretch for Pokémon Go. The game is set to close out its major annual summer event season this weekend with Go Fest Global, but summer is still just getting started—so players may want to keep an eye out for additional surprises soon.
The Best Pokémon Spin-off Games
It’s also a notable period for the wider Pokémon franchise, which is marking a major milestone this year as well. While the overall series is celebrating 30 years, there isn’t a new main console release lined up before Christmas to match the occasion. That said, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are scheduled to arrive sometime in 2027. With that in mind, Pokémon Go could be positioned as a key place for fans to rally again.
More information is expected to surface later this week, and the broadcast coverage will be available as everything unfolds.
