Final 24 Hours: Grab Red Dead Online’s Free Bounty Rewards Before They Swap
Red Dead Online has me back in bounty mode—hours spent with my “pardner” lassoing targets while juggling a Mauser and a modest $36.12 dream. If you’re the type who likes clearing objectives for practical loot, you’ll want to jump in fast: a full July bounty-hunting event is running right now, and this is your final window to snag the current rewards before the next set of challenges rotates in.
You have until July 6 to finish two bounties. Doing so earns three hawkmoth bolas and 100 rounds of express repeater ammo. On top of that, completing any bounty during the month also unlocks an emote—either the Asking for Trouble emote (for standard bounties) or the War Cry emote (for legendary bounties).
After tomorrow’s cutoff, a different wave of tasks begins, including a chance to earn the blue Eberhart Coat.
- June 30–July 6: complete two bounties to unlock the hawkmoth bolas and 100 rounds of express repeater ammo.
- July 7–13: complete an activity with a persistent posse to receive the Eberhart Coat.
- July 14–20: purchase a weapon modification to receive a Reward for the West Hill Haven treasure map.
- July 21–27: rank up five times or reach Rank 20 (or higher) as a bounty hunter to receive the orange Raccoon Hat.
- July 28–August 3: complete two bounties to receive a free weapon.
June 30–July 6: How to claim the hawkmoth bolas and express ammo
This is the part you can still finish right now. Rockstar’s current bounty segment runs from June 30 through July 6, and the main requirement is straightforward.
- Complete two bounties during the event window (June 30–July 6).
- Collect your reward: three hawkmoth bolas plus 100 rounds of express repeater ammo.
- If you’re going for extra flair, remember that completing any bounty in July also awards an emote: Asking for Trouble for regular bounties, or War Cry if you complete a legendary bounty.
What unlocks next: the July rotation beyond July 6
Once July 6 passes, the event shifts into the next set of goals. Here’s what each date block is focused on.
- July 7–13: earn the blue Eberhart Coat by completing an activity in a persistent posse.
- July 14–20: buy a weapon modification to receive a Reward for the West Hill Haven treasure map.
- July 21–27: progress as a bounty hunter—either five rank increases or reaching Rank 20 (or above)—to receive the orange Raccoon Hat.
- July 28–August 3: complete two bounties again to receive a free weapon.
Posse XP boost, limited-time outfits, and event cash/XP
If you’re newer to bounty hunting, this event is set up to make your early grind smoother. Your first move should be heading to Rhodes to pick up a license. During the event, the entry fee is reduced by five gold bars, making it easier to start the role.
There’s also a sale going on right now for useful bounty-related items, including throwing weapons and repeaters. And if you manage to reach Rank 10 within the event timeframe, you can obtain the Bounty Hunter Wagon completely free—handy if your posse is running multiple targets at once.
Day of Reckoning and Manhunt: triple rewards through August 3
Rockstar is also running a triple money and triple XP period until August 3 for participating in Day of Reckoning or Manhunt. Those modes also come with an apparel reward: the Rushword Shirt.
Even if you’re not chasing those specific matches, simply logging in during the event lets you pick up returning limited-time clothing. Examples include the Rebellion Poncho, plus for bounty hunters the Spirit of 1776 Bandana.
Additional clothing items are available at tailors for a limited time as well, including the Concho Pants, Patterned Bandana, Porter Jacket, Macbay Jacket, and Torranca Coat.
Before you queue: set up a persistent posse for maximum XP
Now is a good time to form a persistent posse if you haven’t already. There’s a full waiver on all setup fees, and you’ll also get a 100 percent XP bonus from playing with your posse during this event.
