Resident Evil’s Next Official Release Hits July 30—What to Expect
Resident Evil fans have another official release to mark on their calendars this Thursday, July 30. After a stretch of standout mainline entries, the series has been on an unusually strong run for almost a decade—despite one notable stumble with Resident Evil 6. Resident Evil 7 is widely credited with putting the franchise back on track, and since then, main series releases have consistently delivered for long-time horror players.
Resident Evil Requiem: what launched earlier this year
The newest mainline game is Resident Evil Requiem, which debuted earlier in 2026 to rave reception. Reviews highlighted how the game expertly mixes the slow-burn, first-person terror style associated with RE7 with the high-impact third-person action players expect from entries in the Resident Evil 4 lineage. Requiem has also been positioned as one of the top-rated new releases of 2026 so far, and it’s available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch 2.
Capcom is already moving toward the next remake, with the next Resident Evil remake planned for 2027. Still, it looks like there will be more information revealed later this summer—suggesting fans won’t have to wait long for additional details.
Resident Evil Requiem amiibo launch on July 30
Capcom is adding amiibo support that’s specifically tied to the Switch 2 version of Resident Evil Requiem. The publisher has confirmed that the previously announced Grace and Leon amiibo will be released on Thursday, July 30, with pre-orders now open.

Release date: July 30

Price: $29.99 each
When scanned, the figures provide in-game weapon skins. Confirmed examples include a Neon skin for Grace’s S&S M232, plus a distinct appearance for the franchise’s “Requiem” magnum. Each amiibo costs $29.99, and while the added skins may not create heavy urgency for everyone, collectors and dedicated fans will likely want them for the figures alone.
Capcom’s amiibo line-up is also designed to be visually distinctive. The Grace figure is shown with her jacket and backpack, while Leon comes with his familiar hatchet. These are expected to be tough to find, and at least some retailers—such as GameStop—have already sold out, so buyers who want one should act quickly.
Even if the cosmetic additions don’t trigger major “fear of missing out,” the amiibo themselves are still presented as highly collectible pieces.
What’s next: Requiem story DLC and the broader roadmap
beyond the amiibo, Resident Evil Requiem is also set to receive a story expansion. What remains unclear is the shape of that DLC and its release window. Some players previously expected the story content to arrive by the end of the year, but newer leaks and rumors have pointed to a launch that could come after the 2027 release of Resident Evil Veronica.
Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled for an early 2027 release, which would mean Requiem fans may be waiting a considerable amount of time for the next story chapter.
Once the expansion does arrive, it should be interesting to see how it builds on the game’s mixed identity—slow-burn horror paired with action-heavy third-person sequences. In the meantime, the expansion is only one part of a bigger slate of upcoming Resident Evil projects.
At the moment, Resident Evil Veronica is the only title officially confirmed. However, reputable leakers have claimed that a Resident Evil Zero remake is in development, alongside Resident Evil 10. There are also suggestions that a second Resident Evil 1 remake could be underway, but none of these additional projects have been formally announced by Capcom at the time of this writing.
