Pokémon GO’s New Event Calendar Makes Meetups Easier to Track

Niantic is rolling out a new in-game event calendar for Pokémon GO, alongside extra tweaks to the game’s Today View—moves that should make it easier to track events and coordinate Meetups without relying as heavily on external tools.

Pokemon GO Adds an In-Game Event Calendar

Niantic’s official Pokémon GO account has announced that an Event Calendar is coming to the game. Players will be able to spot a new calendar button in the bottom-right area of the map screen. Tapping it brings up a running list of events that are either happening right now or are scheduled to arrive soon.

From there, players can open individual entries to see event details and use a category filter if they’re searching for something specific. The calendar also includes a “Join a Meetup” option, letting players RSVP for in-person Meetups run by Community Ambassadors. The update aims to reduce how necessary the Campfire app has been for coordinating real-world meetups.

If you want a larger view, the Event Calendar will also be accessible online through the Events section on the Pokémon GO website. Players can sign in using their account credentials to review upcoming events and local Meetups. It will also let players manage their Meetups from the website, with that information syncing back to the game automatically.

Today View Gets More Focused

Alongside the Event Calendar, Pokémon GO is refining the Today View. This screen is where players typically check Daily Streak progress, live bonuses, ongoing events, and more. In the updated layout, the focus shifts toward Field Research, Daily Activities, and GO Passes.

Players will be able to swipe and scroll through progress tracking, while the “Happening Now” section is being moved into the new Event Calendar.

What Else Is Happening in 2026—and What to Watch Next

Niantic is already treating 2026 as a major milestone year for Pokémon GO, with plans spanning multiple events plus new debuts and mega evolutions to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary. The studio has already launched the All Out event earlier in March, which added nearly all Pokémon to wild encounters, with particular biomes improving odds for discovering certain species.

That same event also allowed Incense to encounter legendary Pokémon, helping it stand out as one of the biggest updates the game has seen. Now, as the anniversary continues building momentum, players will be watching for how the new calendar and Today View changes slot into the ongoing seasonal content and limited-time event schedule.

Looking at other recent updates, Pokémon GO also overhauled its PvP Trainer Battle system in June 2026. The goal was to reduce lag tied to connection issues and make battles feel more consistent. Reactions were mixed overall—some players said lag still affected matches.
