USMNT Beat Chile 4-2 as Hall and Albert Shine in St. Louis
The United States men’s national team completed its September camp with a 4-2 friendly win over Chile at Energizer Park in St. Louis, with teenagers Julian Hall and Mathis Albert again making decisive contributions.

The result followed the win over Peru earlier in the international window and gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side consecutive victories against South American opponents. The camp has featured a clear emphasis on emerging players, while established internationals have supplied key moments around them.
Hall started against Chile and brought the United States level at 2-2 in the second half, meeting Gio Reyna’s delivery with a header. The forward had already created several opportunities for himself without finding a finish, but continued to threaten Chile’s defence and earned a second goal in as many matches.
Albert then marked his senior international breakthrough late in the match. The Borussia Dortmund prospect struck a shot against the underside of the crossbar and into the net for the fourth American goal, becoming the youngest scorer in USMNT modern-era history.
Sebastian Berhalter was central to the victory once more. The Middlesbrough midfielder had scored and registered an assist in the Peru match, and repeated that output against Chile. He opened the scoring with a back-post finish before setting up Chris Richards from a corner after Pochettino turned to his substitutes.
Richards made an immediate impact from the bench, while Auston Trusty helped the side withstand Chilean pressure with several important headed clearances. Trusty also provided the headed assist for Albert’s landmark finish.
Reyna was influential in the attacking areas, creating Hall’s goal and several further openings. Sergiño Dest supplied the ball in the move for Berhalter’s opener and operated in advanced positions on both wings, while Antonee Robinson captained the team.
The match also gave significant minutes to a youthful starting group. Neil Pierre, Adri Mehmeti, Frankie Westfield and Brooklyn Raines began alongside Hall. Raines made a late recovery run to stop a Chile counterattack, while Pierre grew into the match with increasing involvement in possession.
Among the substitutes, Tyler Adams made an important tackle shortly after entering, Malik Tillman brought dribbling quality during roughly half an hour on the pitch, and Damion Downs saw a good chance saved. Cavan Sullivan produced an energetic cameo and created two promising attacking sequences, while Alex Freeman was also introduced.
A productive camp for the United States
The two wins supplied Pochettino with goals from experienced international players and further evidence that Hall, Albert and several other young squad members can contribute at senior level. Chile exposed moments of uncertainty in the American defence and goalkeeping, but the United States responded strongly enough to finish the window with another victory.
