The Sims 4 Just Launched a New Downloadable Patch With Stability Fixes

The Sims 4 is getting a fresh download right now, bringing another round of fixes aimed at long-standing problems and high-priority complaints shared by players on the official EA forums. The patch focuses on everything from stability issues to quality-of-life changes in live gameplay.

This update also continues the game’s steady release cadence, and it arrives as players look ahead to the full slate of The Sims 4 expansion packs available in 2026—helping Simmers narrow down which themes and features they want to invest in next.

As of June 30, The Sims 4 includes multiple adjustments that players have been requesting. One of the headline changes improves live-mode notifications by reducing repetitive phone calls and random interruptions, while also giving better control over alerts tied to festivals. The patch also addresses soft lock scenarios and endless loading problems, including multiple fixes related to interactions involving cats and dogs. On the career front, it resolves bugs affecting doctors and the Actor Career gig. Mac players should also be glad to see further work on the infinite loading issue some have run into, with changes intended to lower the chance of it recurring.

June 30 Sims 4 Patch Notes

Fewer Infinite Load Occurrences on Mac

Following ongoing investigations into save corruption—along with a March 10 update—the team moved Scratch files from the Documents folder to AppData for PC players, specifically to avoid conflicts with cloud backup tools. With that rollout completed, improvements to infinite loading have been observed. For this June release, similar changes are being applied to Mac as well.

Festival Notification Controls

A new “Festival Notifications” section has been added to the Game Options menu. This lets players choose, on a pack-by-pack basis, which festivals they want to receive notifications for.

Fixes & Improvements for Live Mode TNS Notifications & Phone Calls

More Control Over Notifications

The “Silence Phone” button has been updated to support newer content, aiming to give players more dependable notification control. It should now properly stop all phone calls. (Base Game)

Notifications Make More Sense for Your Story

  • Sims won’t be calling anymore just to ask for dating advice when they barely know you. From now on, only Friends will make those calls. (Base Game)
  • Neighborhood Stories have been tightened up as well: all Neighborhood Stories phone calls will require your Sims to be at least friends before reaching out. (Base Game)
  • [EA Forums] Freelancers will no longer receive gig call prompts or pop-ups for careers they aren’t actually part of. (Base Game)
  • Sims should now be Friendly before they call to invite your Sims to a festival or a getaway, adding more story context to those phone interactions. (Multiple packs)
  • [EA Forums] Stay Over calls can now occur multiple times. They may happen any time after fourteen days have passed since the first call. This fix is retroactive in older saves.
  • Sims who are actively present on the lot will no longer call to ask about your adult Sim’s childhood for the Formative Moments feature. The team notes that it was “a little weird,” and that the behavior didn’t make much sense.
  • Good Ol’ Grim is now more selective about who he tries to recruit. He’ll only call to offer a job if the target Sim is Macabre, reflecting that he’s the Grim Reaper after all. (Life & Death)
  • [EA Forums] A set of repetitive live-mode phone calls has been removed based on community feedback from Reddit, Discord, and the EA forums. Players will no longer receive the following call types:
  • “Hey, I heard you became friends with [SimName]! [He/She]’s pretty cool!” (Get Together)
  • “Hey, I heard you became enemies with [SimName]. That [guy/girl] is a jerk!” (Get Together)
  • “Hey, I heard you and [SimName] are good friends now. You’re getting more popular—clearly you’re a good person to know!” (Get Famous)
  • “Do you want Earbuds?” The items will still be purchasable from the computer, but the game will stop reminding players about them.
  • Reduced frequency of dancing and Bar Night invitations from other Sims. (Get Together)
  • Bess Sterling will call less often, but if she does reach out and you accept, you’re still at her mercy. (Eco Lifestyle)
  • Community Closeness Calls will arrive less frequently. (Eco Lifestyle)
  • The “Come check out ThrifTea!” TNS notification reminder has been removed. (High School Years)
  • Romance-related phone calls will happen less frequently. (Lovestruck)
  • The Discovery Quest for “Starting a Dynasty” should now trigger only once per save. (Royalty & Legacy)
  • More generally, invites from other Sims have been reduced across multiple packs.

More Flexibility on Marketplace (PC, Mac, and Xbox)

Marketplace Maker Packs and Kits now feature improved price transparency thanks to a simplified purchase flow.

After clicking the new “Buy” button in the Marketplace, the nearest available amount of Moola will be automatically applied for the selected Kit or Maker Pack. For instance, if a Maker Pack costs 300 Moola, checkout will allow you to select spending “$2.99” (or the MSRP) directly.

To make the process smoother, “Buy” also includes nine new Moola offers: 300, 400, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1100, 1200, and 1300.

This streamlined option is available for Simmers on PC and Xbox. PlayStation players will receive the same choice in a later update.

Fixes for Most Voted Issues:

  • [EA Forums] Windows and doors now display correctly and stay aligned with walls across Low, Medium, and High graphics settings, without clipping or glitching into walls. If the issue shows up while using Low Settings, players should follow the on-screen prompt and restart the game to see the change.
  • [EA Forums] An issue where partnered Sims could form an inappropriate relationship after leaving Create a Sim has been fixed. This is not retroactive for saves where the relationship change already happened, but it is retroactive for older saves where the change hadn’t occurred yet. The team also flags that another version of this behavior is still under investigation.
  • [EA Forums] The game can no longer get stuck on the thumbnail UI when a player clicks a gallery item after changing filters while navigating with a controller.
  • [EA Forums] Simmers on Xbox and PlayStation consoles will no longer hit a soft lock when trying to download tattoos from the Gallery.
  • [EA Forums] An endless loading case tied to save corruption while placing certain lots from the Gallery has been resolved. The problem was linked to those lots using placement cheats excessively, which corrupted the lots’ footprints. Navmesh behavior has been adjusted to account for these cases.
  • [EA Forums] The team investigated a major community concern about Sims “performing Mean interactions.” While it had been happening, the team found those were older bugs that had already been addressed in past patches. New reports and player saves showed the behavior was caused by the “Vicious Dynasty Ideal” from Royalty & Legacy and was functioning as designed. To respond to feedback, Sims with the Vicious Dynasty Ideal will no longer autonomously run Mean interactions. They will still earn Prestige Points when a player manually triggers Mean socials.
  • [EA Forums] Child Sims can no longer be automatically added to a Dynasty, and players will no longer repeatedly receive the “Joined Dynasty” notification when entering or leaving Create a Sim. (Royalty & Legacy)
  • [EA Forums] Doctors can no longer fail to perform interactions with Patients or use the “Deliver Food” interaction. (Get to Work)
  • [EA Forums] An issue preventing Sims from adopting Cats and Dogs has been fixed. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Sims can once again perform the “Feel the Love” interaction correctly on a cat or small dog. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Sims can no longer get blocked from bathing small dogs. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Actor Career gig progress is unblocked: Sims can complete the Hair and Makeup task again. (Get Famous)
  • [EA Forums] Mac rendering backend synchronization has been updated, addressing graphical flickering seen when players manually disabled SSAO in the SGR file.

The patch also tackles several visual problems and crash-related issues tied to occult gameplay.

  • [EA Forums] Old saves with missing Merfolk tails have been fixed. To apply the visual repair on your side, the affected Sims must be taken into Create a Sim once so their tail can return.
  • [EA Forums] Fairy Wings will remain visible after traveling to other lots, with the fix applied retroactively.
  • [EA Forums] Fairies with modified skin tone will no longer cause the game to crash if a player repeatedly swaps forms or appearance modifiers.
  • Switching from Fairy form to normal form in live mode—when the forms are unlinked—no longer causes the normal Sim body to inherit the Fairy skin tone.
  • [EA Forums] User-created Werewolves from existing saves can once again apply Nose Swatch Colors in Create a Sim.
  • [EA Forums] Werewolf nose color options will no longer reset when a Teen Werewolf goes to school, comes home, and then enters Create a Sim using a mirror.
  • [EA Forums] On PlayStation, Create-a-Sim and Build Mode catalog sorting by pack is now working properly.
  • Simmers on Xbox will not be prompted to restart after purchasing Moola following the download of another pack.
  • Xbox players will be prompted to restart after downloading an Expansion Pack or Game Pack, which the game requires so new content can appear in-game.

Beyond the notification improvements, occult fixes, and scratch file updates, the team also continued addressing highly upvoted community concerns, along with several smaller issues that were easier to resolve.

  • [EA Forums] Stacked items no longer get stuck on the cursor when moving them into a Sim’s Inventory. This applies to stacked items as well as photos and paintings. If players still see the issue in other situations, they’re asked to report it.
  • [EA Forums] Improvements were made to several Base Layer assets. These include splitting the Turtleneck into separate gender versions to improve neck texture quality; splitting an underwear bra asset into separate gender versions to improve texture quality; and adjusting textures for yfAcc_BaseLayerBodySuit_CapPink, LongWine, and TankWhite to remove a breast shadow so the result is more gender-neutral.
  • Couple Sims won’t only run the “Kiss” interaction autonomously anymore.
  • [EA Forums] The “New Items” icon no longer reappears in Build Mode on items that have already been viewed.
  • [EA Forums] Household Sims can no longer be incorrectly tagged as a “Neighbor,” and as a result they can now use doors normally.
  • [EA Forums] A Simulation Error where appliances and sinks would repeatedly break even after repair, travel, or the passage of time has been fixed.
  • [EA Forums] The “Partner” relationship will no longer revert back to a general Household member after re-entering Create a Sim.
  • [EA Forums] An error that happened between 2 and 3 a.m. at night and left Sims stuck—unable to be swapped—has been fixed.
  • [EA Forums] The UI, Options, and interactions will no longer become inaccessible after exiting Build Mode when work schedules are involved. The fix applies to old saves as well.
  • Sims will stop obsessively viewing Frog or insect collections, including the Noble Frog.
  • Infinite Loading has been fixed for a case where Create a Sim could be opened through an unloaded Sim via the Simology Panel.
  • [EA Forums] An Assert tied to stairs has been resolved when deleting an object using the Sledgehammer Tool after purchasing a Styled Room.
  • When a Sim goes to a community lot and enters Plan an Outfit in Create a Sim using a mirror, closing CAS now returns the Sim back to the community lot correctly instead of sending them to their home lot.
  • A small daily idle has been added for Active Sims: once per day, they’ll perform a brief motion before receiving their Energized buff (the Create a Sim Active Trait selection animation). This is described as non-bug behavior, added because it’s “cute” and straightforward.
  • [EA Forums] “There are Sims who can be Duplicated” has been fixed in multiple ways. If a duplication already occurred in those specific cases, it won’t be corrected retroactively.
  • [EA Forums] Rahul can no longer become duplicated as the “Grocery Delivery” Sim. (Cottage Living)
  • The NPCs Raheel Kunal (Adventure Awaits) and Zhaleh Amani (Enchanted by Nature) can no longer be married, moved in with, or proposed to. The team describes them as unique NPCs that fill specific roles, and doing those actions caused duplicates.
  • [EA Forums] Buddy Scoop now follows a schedule from 10 AM to 8 PM, and he will no longer reappear under different names in the Relationship panel. (Adventure Awaits)
  • Other reports in the cited community thread were investigated and appear to have been handled in previous updates.
  • [EA Forums] A holistic inventory fix: multiple objects can no longer become trapped in a Sim’s inventory and fail to return to the world using drag-and-drop. This also resolves a greyed-out “Put in Inventory” interaction on certain objects caused by ownership problems.
  • [EA Forums] Fixed an issue where worlds could appear twice on the World selection screen.

Fixed an issue where the game could hang when a Sim performs the “Fan Self” interaction using the “Fluttering Hand Fan.” (Lady Bridgerton’s Masquerade Ball Event)

[EA Forums] Fixed visual ceiling problems seen for adjacent apartment ceilings when using Cutaway/Walls Down options.

[EA Forums] Pets will no longer receive a Black Texture after spending a day at a Vet Clinic. The team notes this is not retroactive for saves where the issue already occurred.

Wants and Fears tied to Father Winter will no longer appear if Wants and Fears are turned off in the Options menu.

  • [EA Forums] Infants can now unlock the “First Visit to a Family Member’s Home” milestone correctly.
  • [EA Forums] Sleep now reduces the length of the “Mental Fog” buff, along with all other dazed moodlets. The buff description has also been rewritten to: “[SimName] is starting to feel woozy from his/her/their mental load. Maybe [he/she/they] should get a good night’s sleep before things get worse.”

The team also fixed a hand animation issue when the Mysterious Rancher attempts to close an umbrella during a thunderstorm.

  • [EA Forums] Rent details now display properly in the Bills & Utilities panel.
  • Rent pricing inaccuracies have been corrected, including cases where the “Current Billing Estimate” for residential rentals showed up as 0.
  • Rent calculations have been fixed so totals don’t incorrectly decrease over time.
  • Objects in multi-unit residential rentals can now be interacted with properly, and the game won’t crash after switching households.

Fixed an assert that could occur when clicking a reaction emoji.

  • [EA Forums] A report about Sims becoming muscular “for no reason” has been addressed. Sims with the “Doctrine of Vitality” trait are intended to gain muscle over time, and the team updated the trait text to make the behavior clearer.
  • [EA Forums] The Geek trait now shows only a single positive value when compared to the Scholarly Dynasty Ideal.
  • Ballroom dance animation tweaks: hands no longer clip when the partner switch segment ends.

[EA Forums] A simulation error has been fixed that occurred when using “Put in Inventory” on the Gordian Cot or Airkushn Single.

  • (pfHair_SDX033AfroPuffsOmbre) now sorts into the correct hair length category in Create a Sim.
  • (yfAcc_ManiNatural_SolidDirt) and (ymAcc_ManiNatural_SolidDirt) no longer show up duplicated in Create a Sim.
  • Cats & Dogs
  • Appliances from Cats and Dogs now appear in both the Misc and Show All categories.

[EA Forums] The Moarpillaz Love Seat now sorts under Loveseats in Build Mode.

[EA Forums] (sitSofa3x1_EP09GENslats) now belongs in the Outdoor Furniture category in Build Mode.

[EA Forums] Child hair options (cmHair_EP14AfroTapered) and (cmHair_EP14CornrowsLong) are now available for female children as well, as long as the Feminine filter is removed.

[EA Forums] The “Relaxo Deluxe Chair by Happy Hands and Feet Co.,” “Relaxed Chair by Happy Hands and Feet Co.,” and “Relax-N-Go Chair by Happy Hands and Feet Co.” now sort into the Misc Comfort category in Build Mode.

  • (lightwall_SP77GEN) now sorts correctly only under the Lights category in Build Mode.
  • The Botanical Beacon light now sorts only under Wall Lights.
