Rockstar Workers Eye Union—and Threaten a Strike Over GTA 6 Plans

Employees at Rockstar Games are reportedly moving to form a union ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, with plans to escalate to a strike if the company refuses to recognize it. The effort follows accusations that Rockstar engaged in union-busting after layoffs tied to the union campaign.

Rockstar Employees Are Attempting to Unionize

A group of Rockstar Games workers is seeking official union recognition with backing from the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain. The group says it wants to sit down with the company to improve working conditions, strengthen fairness, and provide “a greater say at work.”

Rockstar North production coordinator Shanti Easton-Steel said the union drive is “in a strong enough position” to pursue recognition from Rockstar after a reported incident in late 2025. The comments point to the firing of 30 Rockstar employees in October 2025, an action that sparked claims of union-busting.

The union proposal reportedly has a deadline of November 19, 2026—the same day as the planned release of GTA 6. If Rockstar does not recognize the union, the group says employee strikes could follow.
