Play a Mini Five Nights at Freddy’s Game Directly in YouTube Videos
A playable take on the legendary mascot horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s is now running right inside YouTube. A creator has built a downsized version of the original experience that you can launch from a video, with the controls changing only a little depending on whether you’re on PC or the mobile site.
Five Nights at Freddy’s first arrived on PC through Steam in 2014 and quickly became a defining hit for the then-emerging mascot horror wave. Over time, the series grew into 19 sequels and spin-offs so far, plus a broader slate of books and graphic novels. The franchise has also received two film adaptations from Blumhouse Productions. In other words, a game that once blew up thanks to YouTube is now playable on YouTube itself.
Still, a recent viral post claiming the FNAF franchise will be wrapping up soon has raised eyebrows—and multiple signs have made that claim look far less certain.
Five Nights at Freddy’s Now Plays Inside YouTube
YouTuber Atlas Arcade has put together a video that functions as a playable version of Scott Cawthon’s original Five Nights at Freddy’s. In this YouTube recreation, you’re responsible for monitoring both doors in the security office from the first game, keeping an eye out for Chica and Bonnie.
To defend yourself, you have to close the correct door at the right time. On PC, that means using the “L” key for the door action; on mobile, you double-tap the screen. While you’re doing that, you also use the “A” and “D” keys on PC (or drag your finger across the screen on mobile) to look around. If you don’t get the door closed in time, the run ends in a game over.
Identify the cover art while scratching off as little foil as possible.
Even though this isn’t the full Five Nights at Freddy’s package, it’s still a noteworthy demonstration of how far YouTube’s tooling can be pushed. The effect is achieved through YouTube’s 180-degree video setup, which aims to mimic the kind of camera coverage you’d normally get inside the security office in the first Five Nights at Freddy’s title. The core twist is that this YouTube version of FNAF leans on players intentionally bypassing the Chica or Bonnie jumpscare by using the YouTube video player’s seek function when it’s time to close the door.
Because of that design, players can theoretically clear the whole “game” by jumping straight to the end of the video via seeking, rather than reacting to every threat in real time.
This YouTube-made Five Nights at Freddy’s playable video is not Atlas Arcade’s first attempt at interactive video-style games. The creator has previously released a playable Mario Kart video using a comparable approach. Other playable uploads on the channel include a first-person shooter, a piano rhythm experience, and even a Geometry Dash level.

What’s Next for FNAF Fans
If you’re looking beyond YouTube for more mascot horror content, the spin-off kart racer Five Laps at Freddy’s is planned for later this year, though no exact release date has been announced. A third Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has also been confirmed and is set to follow the release of last year’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
On the publishing side, the franchise is set to receive Five Nights at Freddy’s Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded Edition this December. The book is positioned as a collection of all FNAF details and lore released so far in an official encyclopedia format.
