The 1958 supporter group called for fans to gather ahead of the derby, arguing that the club had crossed a line through its handling of the season-ticket sanctions. Supporters marched towards the stadium from the Bishops Blaize pub, with green-and-gold flares used during chants against the Glazers and Ratcliffe.
One banner accused the club of taking too much from its supporters while banning people without justification, linking rising prices to greed. The word “premium” was styled to resemble Amazon branding, referring to the documentary series being filmed around United.
Protest chants continued near the Munich tunnel, outside the directors’ entrance, where supporters called for the Glazers to leave the club. The Red Army group had also confirmed before the game that there would be no flag display against City because of the dispute.
United’s crackdown followed a review of ticketing-platform accounts by an independent company. The club said the work had identified substantial organised touting activity and maintained that action had disrupted networks involved in reselling tickets.
However, United accepted that the process had caused considerable worry and distress among supporters. The club also conceded that it had not fully appreciated how routinely fans shared usernames and passwords, acknowledging that some may believe they had been dealt with unfairly.
The scale of the protest underlined that the issue has moved beyond ticket enforcement alone. For many supporters, it has become another point of conflict over ownership, pricing and the relationship between the club and its matchgoing fanbase.
