Liverpool Assess Alexander Isak After Sweden Fitness Issue
Alexander Isak has left Sweden duty early and returned to Liverpool after sustaining a minor fitness problem, giving the club medical staff time to assess the striker before the Premier League resumes. The former Newcastle forward had completed 90 minutes and scored in Sweden’s 2-1 win over Romania on Friday.
What changed for Liverpool
Isak had been due to take part in all four of Sweden’s matches during the international window, but will now miss the final three games and report to the AXA Training Centre for examination and recovery work.
The 26-year-old has made a fast start to the league campaign, scoring four times in five Premier League appearances. Those goals account for more than half of Liverpool’s league total so far, while his latest strike — the winning goal against Bournemouth — took him beyond his return from a difficult first season at Anfield.
