Leny Yoro Backs Manchester United Revival Before Atletico Madrid Test
Leny Yoro has insisted Manchester United remain capable of turning their season around as they head to Spain for a major European meeting with Atletico Madrid, despite a start that has become the club’s poorest since 1986.
United’s pressure increased after they conceded a late draw against a Tottenham Hotspur team reduced to 10 men at the weekend. The result extended an inconsistent opening period and left the squad facing renewed scrutiny before a demanding trip to the Spanish capital.
Yoro, however, believes the group has the resilience required to recover. The 20-year-old said difficult spells can affect any side early in a campaign and maintained that United are focused on improving over the matches ahead rather than allowing the current situation to unsettle them.
Players confront the problems internally
The defender said the squad have accepted responsibility for their performances and have held frank private conversations about the areas requiring improvement. In his view, players must be willing to address shortcomings directly if the team are to make progress.
Yoro said honesty within the group is essential, adding that United must recognise the reality of their position and continue working to raise their level.
Yoro adapting to a different role
Although naturally a central defender, Yoro has recently been used at right-back. He has embraced the adjustment, saying he is prepared to fill any role required by the team and is comfortable playing on the flank despite the different demands of the position.
The Frenchman has impressed the coaching staff with his response to the change, particularly given the pressure around United’s recent results. He said adaptability is part of being ready to contribute, wherever he is selected on the pitch.
Yoro also highlighted the support he has received from Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez. Both senior defenders have helped him during training and through regular conversations as he continues to settle into the expectations of playing for Manchester United.
He said their guidance has aided his development and helped him feel at home at the club from the beginning. Now in his third season with United, Yoro said he is pleased with his start to the campaign but recognises there is still further room for improvement.
Atletico test awaits in Spain
United now face Atletico in an atmosphere expected to be intense, with Diego Simeone’s side known for their combative approach and fervent home support. Yoro said the occasion carries pressure but insisted it will not alter his routine or preparation.
His message before the European fixture was straightforward: United must remain composed, confront their form honestly and begin producing the results needed to move their season forward.
