Leeds United Open Daniel Farke Contract Talks as Long-Term Vision Takes Shape
Leeds United are in talks with Daniel Farke over a new contract, with the club keen to secure the manager’s future as he enters the final year of his existing Elland Road deal.
Managing director Evans said discussions with Farke and his representatives have been under way for the past three months, with both sides aligned on the direction of the club. Leeds are not treating the negotiations as an urgent deadline-driven process, however, and believe the time available will allow them to reach an agreement that suits both the manager and the board.
Farke has strengthened his standing at Leeds since taking charge in 2023. After guiding the club through promotion in the 2024-25 campaign, the German led the Whites to 14th place in the Premier League last season and oversaw their run to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Leeds have also begun the current league campaign with five points from three matches, adding to the club’s confidence in Farke’s work. Evans described the 49-year-old as having done “a fantastic job” and made clear that Leeds want him to remain in charge over the longer term.
Leeds see no need to rush negotiations
Evans said the conversations have been positive throughout the summer and insisted there has been no tension over the length of time required to settle the new agreement.
“Daniel, his team and I have had really good chats for the past three months and we’re all on the same page,” Evans said.
He contrasted the current situation with the pressure surrounding Farke’s appointment in 2023 or a transfer-window deal, explaining that neither party needs to force a quick conclusion.
“The time pressure is far reduced, so we have time to get it right in terms of what he wants and what we want,” Evans said. “I don’t think it is taking a long time. It means we are getting it right, and we have the time to do that.
“As long as we are operating together as a group — and we are doing that very well — I’m not concerned. He has been excellent, we want him here for the long term, and we are working on it.”
Farke’s priority will remain Leeds’ next Premier League fixtures while the contract process continues in the background. The club regard a new deal as an important part of maintaining continuity as they seek to consolidate their position back in the top flight.
