Jude Bellingham has received the World Cup Bronze Boot after an exceptional seven-goal campaign for England, an award he said he had not realised existed until it arrived. Seven goals secure Bronze Boot

Bellingham scored seven times in eight matches during the summer World Cup, setting a new England record for goals by one player at a single edition of the competition. His return left him joint-third among the tournament’s leading scorers, behind Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.

Bellingham’s reaction to the award

The 23-year-old posted an image of the trophy in its presentation case on his JB5 app. He expressed surprise at receiving the prize, saying he had not known that the World Cup had a Bronze Boot before thanking those involved.

It is another individual recognition from a tournament in which Bellingham was central to England’s run. The campaign was his fourth at a major international finals, and his scoring in North America more than doubled his previous England goal total.

England return after World Cup run

England reached the semi-finals before losing to Argentina, then responded by defeating France to take third place. Bellingham’s World Cup contribution has taken his national-team record to 13 goals from 56 appearances.

He has carried that output into the opening phase of Real Madrid’s domestic season, producing three goals and three assists in seven La Liga matches.
