Iori’s Request Quest Guide: Walkthrough, Rewards, and Difficulty Tips
Iori’s Request is the second major quest in Echoes of Aincrad, picking up right after the Prologue. The premise is straightforward: help Iori finish an unfinished errand, and you’ll be rewarded with a small chunk of experience on Normal difficulty or below (with a slight increase if you choose a higher difficulty). If you want the cleanest route through the early areas—and a better idea of what fights and mechanics to expect—this walkthrough breaks down each step in order.
Checklists
Iori’s Request is the second main quest in Echoes of Aincrad. Starting after the Prologue, this one has you help Iori with an unfinished quest. Similar to almost every quest in Echoes of Aincrad, you’ll receive a small 100 Exp for completing it on Normal difficulty or lower. This amount increases slightly if you pick a higher one. Iori’s Request Walkthrough
After leaving the Town of Beginnings, you’ll notice something immediately: the world map isn’t visible. The game explains that you must reach each region’s Safe Area to clear the fog. That requirement makes navigation less obvious at first, since you can’t just read your next turn from the map. The upside is that once you’ve cleared fog in a region, you’ll also get markers showing the locations of treasure chests across that area.
Exploration still isn’t a total mystery. You can usually keep moving by following roads through a region, even if some routes eventually lead you into dead ends. Echoes of Aincrad may present an open landscape, but the pathing is more linear in practice. Mountains, cliffs, and water you can’t swim through repeatedly block the routes you might assume are available.
Travel to the Plains of Departure Safe Area
Start by following the road toward the blue pillar of light that marks the next Safe Area. Along the way, you’ll fight a mix of boars and eventually run into wolves as well. One of the more frequent enemies you’ll encounter is the Frenzy Boar.
- Col
- Iron Chunk
- Bastard Sword
As you push north toward the first Safe Area, you’ll run into Mama Boars. These are noticeably tougher than the earlier boars thanks to their higher health. Here’s what you might pick up from them.
- Col
- Iron Ingot
- Smooth Hide
- Steel Rapier
- Bronze Rod
Not long after meeting a Mama Boar, the Scarred Boar is likely to appear next. You can identify it by the markings across its body, and while it looks distinct, it’s not as intimidating as the Mama Boar.
- Col
- Smooth Hide
When you finally arrive at the Plains of Departure Safe Area, rest there to reveal the surrounding region. Even though it’s not strictly required, it’s a good habit because it makes the rest of your routing and treasure tracking far less frustrating. Be sure to use the Investigate prompt around the Safe Area to learn more about how Safe Areas work. After that, follow the nearby road heading east to reach the next region.
Travel to the Esta Road Safe Area
Once you reach a stone bridge that carries you into the next area, you may run into the white Roaring Wolf. Like boss-style threats that roar and howl, this enemy can call in additional fighters for you to deal with.
By the time you’re approaching the next region, wolves show up more often alongside boars. If you start struggling, don’t forget to lean on Iori as much as possible. His Healing Circle Support Skill can be a lifesaver if you’ve burned through your Healing Crystals. The Dire Wolves you’ll encounter soon after shouldn’t be too difficult to handle, assuming you keep your resources under control.

- Smooth Hide
- Iron Chunk
Tip From Guide Writer Jeffrey
While progressing through Echoes of Aincrad, your party members may sometimes fight enemies without you directly seeing it. That’s one reason you might occasionally want to check the minimap for useful signals. Besides the red markers that indicate enemies, there’s also a yellow marker for loot drops. Those yellow indicators are easy to miss if Iori wanders off on his own or if you sprint past an enemy while he’s handling the fight.
After resting in Esta Road, follow the road west to the Iori’s Request waypoint. Eventually, you’ll reach Megalith Forest South, where you’ll find a yellow sealed wall. Interact with that wall to trigger a boss encounter behind it—this is the Snowcap Boar.
How to Beat the Snowcap Boar
The Snowcap Boar is a tougher checkpoint than the bosses you faced in your first dungeon, with a more involved fight flow. It can also inflict the Frozen status effect, and at this stage in Echoes of Aincrad, that can quickly become dangerous. As the tooltip points out, Frozen only applies once the meter near the bottom of your screen fills fully. Here are some things to watch for in the Snowcap Boar fight:
- The Snowcap Boar uses frost breath to apply Frozen. If you manage your stamina well, you can block it.
- It performs a moving tornado-style attack that leaves behind a frozen trail. Avoid standing in that trail, since it can also apply Frozen.
- It has a range of standard attacks such as quick lunges, spinning moves, and sideways bashes. If Iori has the Snowcap Boar’s attention, you can try striking from behind to reduce the chance of getting hit.
- Some attacks are telegraphed when its tusks glow bright blue—use that visual cue to anticipate what’s coming next.
After you defeat the Snowcap Boar, here are the drops you may obtain:
- Wind Fleuret
- Steel Knife
- Anneal Longsword
- Smooth Hide
- Iron Ingot
- Col
Once the loot is collected, continue west to the following waypoint, where another Safe Area is located. You might spot a blue streak flowing along the ground leading toward it—these streaks often show up near Safe Areas. Resting at this location completes Iori’s Request and sends you back to the Town of Beginnings.
Meet a New Character
Back in town, Iori comments on how well the two of you work together. He then mentions another area he wants to inspect and asks if you want to continue as a pair. After you explain that you couldn’t find any information about the quest, a new character named Argo appears. She offers to join your party and help out, but only in exchange for money.
After the cutscene finishes, you can take some time in town to prepare for the next quest. Warp to each town location based on what you need right now: use the Chest to assign any Growth Points you’ve earned, use newly acquired weapons to upgrade your gear, and spend Col you’ve gathered to purchase new consumables. When you’re set, head to the Main Terminal to begin the next quest, Within the Shadows.
