How to Copy Emblems in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on PS4 and PS5
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is back on newer PlayStation hardware, now available on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Along with the release, the Emblem Editor has returned and is functioning as expected. If you’re wondering how to grab a cool design from another player, you can copy their Emblems and use them for yourself—here’s the rundown.
Emblem Copying Is Back (But Not Always Smooth)
Copying Emblems in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 works a bit differently than the older, original approach. Even so, it’s still possible to pull off. The big catch is that the feature doesn’t seem to be fully intentional, and players have noted it can be inconsistent—meaning you might need a couple of tries to get the sequence right. The good news: it does function on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions.
Below is the console method, including the controls you’ll use on both Xbox and PlayStation.
Black Ops 2 Emblem Copy Method (Console Controls)
Step-by-step
- Hover over Barracks
- Move to your Friends List or Recent Players
- Select the player whose Emblem you want to copy
- Go to the Player Channel
- Press Circle / B three times to quickly back out to the Main Multiplayer Menu
- Press X / A twice in rapid succession to enter the Emblems menu
- Quickly press the down direction on the D-Pad twice
- If that player’s Emblem shows up in the Emblem Editor, open it in the Emblem Editor and then save your Emblem changes
One warning before you try it: performing this process may erase the Emblem you currently have equipped. Some players say you can get around that by keeping multiple Emblems ready. Using the method, you can copy essentially any Emblem, and after you copy it, you can also edit it later within the Emblem Editor if you want to tweak the design.
Emblem Rules and Enforcement in Black Ops 2
What is allowed?
Activision maintains a Security & Enforcement Policy focused on offensive Emblems. This policy bans inappropriate content. If you create or copy an Emblem that violates the rules, you could face enforcement actions—starting with removal of the Emblem and a temporary ban from the Emblem Editor. For repeat issues or especially severe violations, the consequence can escalate to a permanent ban.
How moderation works appears to depend heavily on in-game reports. To reduce the chance of losing access to the Emblem Editor, avoid making or copying any Emblems that could be interpreted as offensive or inappropriate.
