Grow a Garden 2 Mega Moon Guide: How to Get Mega Seed Fast
Mega Seed is a mythic-grade seed in Grow a Garden 2, and you can only collect it during the Mega Moon event from the map server. Since Mega Moon happens only at night, you’ll have just about a two-minute window to locate and grab one. Use the day-night cycle indicator above your screen to time your hunt.
Mega Moon has only a 2% chance to show up during nighttime, so it’s far from guaranteed. Still, if you join a public server with a lot of players, the event is more likely to spawn and you may see more chances to pick up Mega Seeds. Keep reading the rest of this GaG 2 guide for the full breakdown.
Below are some working Grow a Garden 2 Megaphone Sound ID codes you can use to play songs, music, and sound effects—handy if you want to make your garden runs a little more entertaining.
How to Get Mega Seed in Grow a Garden 2
In practice, Mega Seed behaves similarly to the Rainbow and Gold Seeds, which also blanket the map during their own moon-themed events. The difference is what you grow afterward: instead of producing mutated crops like all-Gold or all-Rainbow plants, Mega Seed grows giant crops. That means your plants not only get taller, but they also yield larger fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
Because of that, Mega Seed is one of the better ways to fill your garden with oversized produce. And since heavier crops are worth more, it’s also an efficient route to earn extra Sheckles.
Mega Seeds can only develop into crops that are currently listed in the Seed Shop. That also means certain exclusives—like the Ghost Pepper Pack items Baby Cactus, Horned Melon, Glow Mushroom, Poison Ivy, and Ghost Pepper—won’t be available as Mega Seed results.
To obtain Mega Seeds in Grow a Garden 2, wait for the Mega Moon event. You’ll know it’s live when the weather meter shows a full blue moon icon at night. Once the “A Mega Seed Spawned” alert appears, head into the map and look for a large blue seed. Sprint over to it and press E to collect it.
From our testing, Mega Seeds often show up more frequently on the far side of plots, just like Gold and Rainbow Seeds. To improve your odds, fully expand your map so you can spot them sooner. We also use Owls and Rabbits to get faster movement and a wider view, letting us scout and pick up multiple seeds in a single run.
After you successfully collect a Mega Seed, the entire server gets notified—so be ready for immediate competition. Other players may attempt to knock you off your seed using Shovels, Flashbangs, and Strawberry Snipers. Keep jumping and moving while repeatedly tapping E to evade their attempts and secure your pickup.
Before the timer runs out, make sure you can recognize the seed silhouettes quickly.
How to Trigger the Mega Moon Event in GaG 2
Like other weather events, Mega Moon is random—you can’t force it to appear. Each night, it rolls with a 2% chance to activate, matching the odds of the Rainbow Moon event.
That said, you’ll generally get a better experience with a higher-traffic lobby. Public servers tend to generate more Mega Seed drops during Mega Moon, while private servers usually only produce a small number of them.
For staying ready in time, your best option is to join the game’s official Discord and enable notifications for weather alerts. To set that up:
- Join the Grow a Garden 2 Discord server.
- Go to the Weather channel settings and choose “All Messages” under Notification Settings.
- Wait for the Mega Moon notification to roll in.
