CD Projekt Standardizes Branding: All References Now Use CD Projekt Red
CD Projekt has formally decided to standardize its branding by changing the company’s name: from today, references to the Polish firm in any context should use “CD Projekt Red.” The change is intended to remove the confusion players may have noticed when reading different names in coverage of future projects, while the underlying legal entity and its registered details remain unchanged.
Release & platform context: what’s changing today
| Item | Status / timing |
|---|---|
| Official naming rule | Effective “from today” in every context |
| New company name | CD Projekt Red |
| What still stays the same | Same legal entity; registration and contact data unchanged |
| When it fully takes effect | After updating the company’s status through court registration |
Up until now, the company name you saw could vary depending on whether the reference was specifically about the game studio or about the broader corporate group. In discussions tied to upcoming titles—such as Witcher 4 or Cyberpunk 2077—different labels have appeared, including CD Projekt and the CD Projekt Group, alongside the “CD Projekt Red” name associated with development.
That inconsistency is now being addressed. The decision was approved by the company’s general meeting, which voted in favor of updating the firm’s name to “CD Projekt Red,” matching the name of the studio that creates its games. The updated name will become fully operative once the change is filed and registered in court under the company’s revised status.
Why the rename is happening
The company’s leadership framed the move as a branding unification effort. The rationale is that the studio’s current activities reflect the company’s primary operational focus: producing and publishing video games and managing the brands the company holds—such as through creating and licensing related products.
In the board’s view, adopting the same company name as the development studio will make communications more consistent, help make the company easier to identify with its products on the global market, and support hiring and recruitment efforts.
