Charalampos Kostoulas gave Brighton the breakthrough in the 35th minute, and Malick Yalcouye extended the advantage shortly after the interval. Coventry’s prospects then deteriorated further when Taiwo Awoniyi was shown a straight red card for an elbow two minutes after Yalcouye’s goal.
Pascal Gross converted from the penalty spot on 70 minutes before captain Lewis Dunk added a striking 20-yard effort from open play. Yasin Ayari completed the scoring in stoppage time as Brighton recorded a comprehensive clean-sheet win.

Hurzeler welcomed the result but stressed that the performance should not lead to complacency. He noted that winning on the road in the Premier League is significant, while acknowledging that Awoniyi’s dismissal changed the contest. Coventry, he said, had posed a threat from set pieces, making the clean sheet particularly satisfying.
The Brighton head coach said his squad must keep its feet on the ground, enjoy the victory collectively and draw on its depth and unity over the demanding schedule ahead. He also singled out Dunk for praise, citing the defender’s quality on his right foot and willingness to attempt the long-range strike that brought Brighton’s fourth goal.
