Barcelona Push for Spotify Camp Nou to Host 2030 World Cup Final
Barcelona have stepped up their campaign for the renovated Spotify Camp Nou to stage the 2030 World Cup final, with vice-president for the social area Antonio Escudero saying the club believe there is a strong chance FIFA will select the stadium.
Why the final would matter to Barcelona
The final venue is becoming a major point of competition within the 2030 World Cup project. Spain and Morocco are the leading national contenders, while Barcelona are seeking to ensure Camp Nou is considered alongside Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu and Morocco’s planned Grand Stade Hassan II.

Camp Nou’s redevelopment includes a larger capacity and improved VIP facilities, and Barcelona view the scale of that investment as a case for hosting football’s biggest single match. Escudero said the club would be delighted to stage the final and argued that the upgraded stadium had earned recognition on the global stage.
Speaking on the Aquí Girona radio programme, Escudero said sporting institutions were supportive of Barcelona’s proposal. He added that, in his view, the prospect of Camp Nou securing the final was highly likely.
The club’s position has been supported by Barcelona City Council and the Catalan government, both of whom have pushed to keep the city central to the tournament plans. A final in Barcelona would also give Spain an alternative to the Bernabéu as its flagship venue for the event.
Season-ticket prices not under discussion
Escudero also addressed concern among members over whether the cost of the stadium works could result in higher season-ticket prices when Barcelona return to Camp Nou.
He said no increase had been discussed and insisted that the issue was not being considered by the club. Escudero told supporters they could remain calm, adding that he would be aware if such a proposal had reached the board’s agenda.
Final venue remains undecided
FIFA has yet to name the stadium for the 2030 final. Morocco’s project would offer Africa the possibility of hosting only its second World Cup final, while Spain can point to its established stadium network and the stature of venues in Barcelona and Madrid.
