Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Flyting Guide: Locations and Winning Lines

If you’re looking for one of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s most memorable side activities, the game’s flyting duels are built for quick thinking, sharp delivery, and a surprising amount of psychology. IGN’s Valhalla wiki section dedicated to flyting collects locations and the best response lines for each opponent—so you can win faster and spend less time redoing failed word-battles.

Checklists

This part of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla wiki covers flyting locations and a duel-by-duel checklist, including guidance on the strongest responses for every opponent you’ll face.

The Power of Flyting

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, flyting is a duel where Eivor faces a skilled linguist in a contest of vocabulary, timing, and swagger—basically a Viking-era word rap where each participant tries to outwit and out-rhyme the other.

These exchanges revolve around speaking and usually insulting the opponent while bragging about yourself. The opposing character always starts the duel, and your job is to respond immediately by choosing one of the three options shown on screen. To land the win, your response needs to match the opponent’s prior line in rhythm, cadence (how the voice is inflected), and rhyme. On top of that, context matters: your chosen reply should fit what the other player just said. For example, if the opponent shifts into insults about your mother, you can’t pivot into something unrelated like attacking their hygiene—you need to defend your mother.

Flyting isn’t solely about insults, though. It’s tied to honor, because a self-respecting Viking wouldn’t tolerate a fool talking down to them. It’s also tied to wealth, since every duel begins with a wager. Before you start, you must put silver on the line: a Small wager costs 100 silver, Medium is 150 silver, and Large is 200 silver. If you don’t have at least 100 silver available, you can’t take part. Importantly, the size of your bet does not change the duel’s difficulty.

Most flyting duels run for three or four rounds. If you lose, you lose the silver you wagered, though you can always attempt the duel again (or use the response guide below to improve your odds). If you win, you receive double the silver you bet. Winning also raises your Charisma skill, unlocking special dialogue choices in certain conversations. Finally, finishing a flyting duel also counts as completing a Mystery in the current region.
