Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered: How to Repair the Jackdaw Ship

In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered, life as a pirate means you’ll be living aboard the Jackdaw as you cross the Caribbean. Between constant naval clashes with the Spanish, British, and other factions, knowing how to get your ship back to fighting shape is essential—so here’s how the repair system works.

Ship Repair Checklists

  • Board enemy ships
  • Use your crew to handle repairs when possible
  • Pay a Harbourmaster for the safest repairs

Board Enemy Ships

If you want the quickest way to restore the Jackdaw’s condition, the most reliable approach is to take the fight to other vessels and then board them out on the open sea. This tactic applies to any enemy ship you come across, from a Schooner all the way up to a Man o’ War.

During boarding, you’ll use the Jackdaw’s weapons to strip an enemy ship’s health until it’s ready to be taken. When you’re close to the threshold, a grappling hook icon will show above the target ship, signaling that boarding is available. Watch your damage output—if you go too far and sink the vessel, you lose the opportunity to repair through this method. Once the ship is secured, move in on the defeated craft and press and hold Triangle on PlayStation or Y on controller to begin boarding.

Before you trigger repairs, you’ll need to bring the enemy’s crew morale down. You can lower the meter by removing their flag, or by defeating enough crew members outright. After that, you’ll be prompted with a Repair option—choose it to restore your ship’s health completely.

Rely on Your Crew

Your crew can repair the Jackdaw while you’re not in combat, as long as you give them enough downtime. They’ll automatically refill the ship’s health to the top of the current health bar segment you’re in. The key limitation is that they can’t fully repair the ship from where you are—they only restore up to the maximum of that segment.

Pay a Harbourmaster

If you prefer a low-risk method, paying a Harbourmaster is the safest way to repair the Jackdaw. Harbourmasters are stationed on the dock in major settlements, including your Great Inagua hideout.

The cost is tied to how much damage needs fixing, so while it’s the most secure option, it’s also the most expensive. If you’re trying to conserve reales, you may want to gamble on repairs out at sea instead.
