Asobo Reveals Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Set 15 Years Before Requiem
Asobo Studio has announced Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, a new story set in the A Plague Tale universe that arrives 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem. The project focuses on Sophia’s past, bringing her to the mythic “Isla del Minotauro” (Minotaur Island) for an action-and-adventure journey built around stealth, discovery, and a central encounter with a creature tied to a far-reaching curse.
Setting and new story lead-in
The game’s narrative takes place a full 15-year gap before Requiem, giving players a chance to explore earlier chapters of Sophia’s life rather than revisiting the later timeline. Instead of centering on the same period as the most recent main entry, Resonance is designed as an original experience that deepens the broader A Plague Tale world.
What players will do
- Follow Sophia as she travels back to the era leading up to the Requiem timeline.
- Reach the Minotaur Island, a key location positioned around ancient mystery and danger.
- Face lethal enemies using a mix of survival tactics and maneuvering through threats.
- Uncover old secrets tied to the myth and the developing curse.
- Confront the creature at the heart of that devastating curse.
Action-forward tone
As described for the project, the gameplay emphasis is “more action and adventure than ever,” pairing tense encounters with exploration. Sophia’s journey is framed around confronting the myth of “the Macula” (the plague/malady central to the series) and understanding why it resonates with her so deeply.
Studio quote
Asobo Studio characterizes Sophia’s role with the idea of balancing danger and hope: “With a sword in one hand and light in the other, Sophia will immerse herself in the myth of the Macula until she understands why it resonates so profoundly with her.”
