“A Man They Call the Sage” is the fifth mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. With Edward now having formed a friendship with the Templars, the next step is proving loyalty to get the information he needs. Before you start, here’s the mission context: Edward has befriended the Templars, so you’ll be expected to demonstrate allegiance in order to obtain the intel required for the story. The sections below outline the flow of the fifth mission and the key moments you’ll run into.
A Man They Call the Sage
Start by moving to the northeast and heading toward the docks to pick up the quest. Once you’re there, talk to Woodes. During the conversation, Torres will step in, and you’ll then be tasked with dealing with a prisoner named Roberts—Torres wants you to bring both of them to his home.
After you escort Torres and Roberts to Torres’s residence, the situation quickly turns. Torres and Roberts flee during the chaos, and at that point you’ll have to respond to the Assassins that show up.
Because you now have your hidden blade, you can assassinate enemies directly. The mission also gives you chances to use that tool effectively after a flawless parry, and you can take advantage of moments when you break an enemy’s defenses.
Work through the first wave, then keep moving toward Torres’s residence. As you follow the route, additional Assassins will keep appearing, so your main job is clearing them out so you can continue forward safely.
You’ll also get more practice opportunities during the tavern brawl portions of the mission. If you spot any Assassins on rooftops, make use of your pistols to deal with them from range.
Near the end, the final group targets Roberts. He manages to slip away, then launches into a run to escape.
Your last objective is to chase Roberts down. He’ll eventually reach a dead end, and you’ll have to fight him to bring the situation to a close.
Once Roberts is back in custody, Kenway is invited to witness the interrogation. After that scene, the mission is complete.
