RuneScape: Dragonwilds Joins PS Plus Extra on September 15 for Premium Too

PlayStation is set to expand its PS Plus Extra lineup next month with RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the franchise’s long-awaited console debut. The game arrives on September 15, and that same day it will be added to the catalog for PS Plus Extra subscribers—along with Premium members, who also get access to the classics library.

RuneScape comes to consoles again—after 25+ years

RuneScape: Dragonwilds marks the series’ return to console platforms after more than 25 years away. It’s positioned as a survival-focused entry built around progression, combat choices, and co-op play, making it a notable addition for PS Plus members looking for something more than a single-player experience.

Survival co-op in Ashenfall

Players will explore the open world of Ashenfall, where dragons have awakened and begun to threaten the ecosystem. Surviving the region means pushing back against dragons and other enemies while leveling up, unlocking new abilities, and gaining access to magic and runes.

The game supports cooperative play for up to four players, allowing groups of subscribers to tackle the challenges together. The survival and crafting structure is built to reward teamwork, especially when managing bases, upgrades, and combat roles.

Crafting, building, and base management

A major pillar of RuneScape: Dragonwilds is crafting and construction. A well-prepared base is described as essential, with players using new unlocks to expand and improve their setup. The building side includes management, construction, “hundreds of pieces,” and fortifications—intended to let you shape your environment to your preferences.

Combat freedom with dodges, blocks, and counters

Combat is built around player choice, with the ability to specialize in melee, ranged, or magic. The battle system emphasizes timing and defensive play—specifically dodges, blocks, and counterattacks—and different weapon types are said to change how fights are approached.

What else is coming to PS Plus

With RuneScape: Dragonwilds confirmed for September, the service’s next additions are still expanding. In October, Mycopunk is also confirmed to be joining the PS Plus lineup, following its reveal in a recent PlayStation State of Play. PlayStation has not yet detailed the full set of September announcements, with the remaining lineup expected to be revealed next week.
