Elden Ring Ranni Quest Guide: Full Step-by-Step Walkthrough to Dark Moon

Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring is one of the game’s longest and most rewarding multi-stage adventures—leading you from key NPC meetings in Liurnia and Limgrave all the way to a late-game boss route, a special altar moment, and a unique Dark Moon weapon. Here’s a clean step-by-step walkthrough of every major milestone you need to reach the end of Ranni’s storyline.

Start the chain: meeting Ranni and taking her place in her plans

• Step 1: Meet Ranni at Church of Elleh (Limgrave) — Your first encounter is in the Church of Elleh in Limgrave. She hands you the Spirit-Calling Bell and claims her name is “Renna.” If you missed this meeting, you can still continue later.
• Step 2: Join Ranni’s service in the Three Sisters region — After defeating the boss in Caria Manor, travel to the Three Sisters area. Ranni is in the left tower. Speak with her, then with the three phantoms of her followers—Seluvis, Blaidd, and Iji—who appear in the tower. Speak with Ranni again. Then return to the Roundtable Hold and talk to Rogier. When you revisit Ranni, she takes you into her service.

Gather the pieces: Blaidd, Seluvis, Sellen, and the Nokron treasure

• Step 3: Get the information — Find Blaidd in Siofra near the Siofra RiverSeethewater Cave. Talk to him, then return to Seluvis in his tower. After that, speak with Jerren—located in the cellar of Ruins of the Waypoint in Limgrave.
• Step 4: Nokron’s treasure — First, defeat Radahn in Caelid. Then speak with Iji, who provides the next direction. In southern Limgrave, a meteor has struck. You can use the airborne debris to reach down into the underground city of Nokron. In Nokron, the treasure Ranni wants is the Knife of the Finger Slayers, stored in a chest in the lower part of the city after the Woods of the Fallen grace.

• Step 5: Carian Study Hall — Bring the Knife of the Finger Slayers to Ranni. Note: If you want to continue Seluvis’s quest, you should do so beforehand. Ranni then gives you the Reverse Carian Statue, which is required for progress inside the Carian Study Hall. From there, you can reach the Church of the Bell Bearing Hunter—listed in the guide as the Heavenly Tower of Liurnia—to grab another key item.
• Step 6: Ranni’s Snow Witch set and talk to Tiny Ranni — Enter Ranni’s tower, north of Ranni’s starting tower. Inside, you’ll find Ranni’s Snow Witch outfit and a teleporter that takes you to the Ainsel River (Main). Near a grace, find a doll called Tiny Ranni. At the grace menu, speak with Tiny Ranni three times.
• Step 7: Nokstella — From the Ainsel River (Main), continue underground to Nokstella. At the end of the area, near the Nokstella Waterfall Basin by the Lake of Rot, fight a strong NPC phantom. Defeat it, then speak again with Ranni. She awards you the Discarded Palace Key.

• Step 9: Boss fight and the new Liurnia exit — Travel back to the Lake of Rot and move forward to the Grand Cloister. There, find a coffin that leads to a secret boss. After defeating it, take the new exit to reach southern Liurnia at a location that was previously unreachable.
• Step 10: Moonlight altar and the Dark Moon Greatsword — In the newly accessible area, go to the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Find a grace point and a hole you can jump into. Down below is the Moonlight Altar. Meet Ranni there, then ignite the Dark Moon Ring to trigger the key scene.
