Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered Lands on Nintendo Switch 2 This Summer
Bethesda has confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is officially headed to Nintendo Switch 2 later this summer. Since the new handheld launched last year, the platform has been steadily filling out its library with ports of established games that didn’t appear on Nintendo’s previous system. The general idea is that more publishers are catching up, bringing over titles that were considered too demanding to run reliably on the original Switch.
Earlier this year, Bethesda also revealed several games coming to Switch 2. At the moment, Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are already available. Bethesda has quickly established itself as an early backer of the platform, though there are still other major projects it could eventually bring over. One of the most obvious is Starfield, a title that has been rumored for Switch 2 for a long time, but still hasn’t made the jump to the system.
Nintendo has also unveiled a new pair of Joy-Con controllers for Switch 2, with plans to sell them “very soon.”
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Nintendo Switch 2 Details
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered earned strong reactions when it launched last year, and Bethesda announced a Switch 2 version in February. At that time, information about the handheld release was limited, but Bethesda has now confirmed an official launch date: August 11. Players will be able to choose between standard and deluxe editions. The standard release will be digital-only, while the deluxe edition will cost $59.99 and will be sold in both physical and digital formats. Every edition includes the main game plus the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions. On top of that, the deluxe versions add a bundle code for Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon Armors, Weapons, and Horse Armor sets.

Because Switch 2 launched more than a year ago, its approach to physical releases has already sparked debate. Many players have grown frustrated with publishers distributing “Game-Key Cards,” which steer buyers toward downloads via the eShop instead of traditional cartridges. For Oblivion Remastered, Bethesda says the base game will be included on the Switch 2 cartridge, along with the game’s narrative expansions. That move should make the physical option more appealing for collectors—particularly for anyone who worries about taking up too much space on the console itself.
Oblivion Remastered was a demanding title at launch, so there’s already speculation about how it will perform on Switch 2 compared with platforms like PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Switch 2 has reportedly handled tough technical releases before, including Cyberpunk 2077, and Bethesda’s port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been met with positive feedback. Hopefully, this next port will land just as well. At minimum, Bethesda’s already signaling it’s making use of the hardware—Oblivion Remastered will include optional motion controls.
