Xbox Series Insider Update Rolls Out Dashboard, Saves, Profile and Wishlist Tweaks
Microsoft has started rolling out a new system update to Xbox Series consoles via the Xbox Insider program, bringing a batch of quality-of-life tweaks aimed at the home dashboard, local save management, profile badges, and wishlist behavior. The changes begin landing today and are currently targeted at the earlier testing rings, with some features expected to reach a wider audience sooner.

Cleaner Home: manual removal for recent entries
One of the most immediately visible adjustments focuses on the Home screen. Microsoft is testing a way to manually remove any item inside the “recent games and apps” list directly from Home using the Menu button. This includes the tile that reflects your recent gameplay history, giving players more control over what stays front and center.
Immersive background mode on demand
Microsoft is also trialing an “immersive” background viewing option. From the Home screen, pressing the right stick will temporarily fade the interface so the dynamic or custom background is fully visible. The interface returns as soon as any button is pressed, making it a quick way to switch focus without leaving the dashboard.
Local save tools get a dedicated management path
Another practical change targets players who may run into storage pressure from saves kept locally. While Xbox continues to back up progress through the network, local reserved storage can still fill up over time.
With the update, users can navigate to Settings > System > Storage > Manage local saved games to view, sort, and delete local save data that is no longer being used. Microsoft says players will be able to delete a single specific save, or clear all unused local saves in one pass. Importantly, the latest progress will remain backed up on Xbox’s network and will resync when launching each game.
Profile badges: higher-resolution art and acquisition details
Microsoft is expanding profile badge information as well. The update adds the ability to select any profile badge to view its high-resolution artwork and see exactly how and when it was earned. This information will be available both on your own profile and when visiting other players’ profiles.
Xbox 25th anniversary: a Day One Xbox One commemorative badge
To mark the 25th anniversary of Xbox, Microsoft is introducing a commemorative badge for players who earned the Day One achievement for Xbox One. That achievement is tied to the console’s launch on 22 November 2013, and those who completed it will receive the new badge for their profile.
Wishlist housekeeping: completed purchases removed automatically
There’s also a behind-the-scenes wishlist improvement: games you’ve bought will be removed automatically from your wishlist. Microsoft frames this as a quality-of-life fix that reduces the need to manually clear items after purchasing.
What’s next for the wider rollout
Microsoft has not confirmed when all of these updates will move out of the Xbox Insider rings to reach the broader player base. However, since the changes are appearing in the earlier testing circles first, players should expect a wider deployment to follow the usual staged process—once Microsoft validates the behavior and stability of each feature.
