Palworld Panthalus Guide: How to Access the World Tree and Get a Flying Mount
In Palworld 1.0 ist Panthalus more than just another late-game monster encounter: it’s the Level 70 Water Pal that gates access to the World Tree—and, unusually for its element, it can also serve as a flying mount once you’ve secured it. The catch is that Panthalus doesn’t “show up” like most Pals; you have to earn the right quest path, craft the correct flute, and bring it into the fight on your terms.
Why Panthalus matters in Palworld 1.0
Reaching the World Tree inevitably leads you to Panthalus. Players aren’t just chasing a powerful combat target here—Panthalus is positioned as a key step toward an entirely new destination, with its own progression gate. At Level 70, it’s explicitly described as especially powerful, and its Water typing is framed as atypical because the Pal functions as a flying mount.
- World Tree access is tied to Panthalus, making it a progression requirement rather than an optional farm target.
- Level 70 difficulty implies you should approach with serious preparation.
- Water-typed, but flying-capable sets Panthalus apart from typical element/mount expectations.
How to unlock the quest and summon Panthalus
Panthalus can’t be found in the open world like many other Pals. Instead, you must awaken it at the correct location using the appropriate flute—after completing a sequence of quest and boss prerequisites.
To begin, you need to clear the following steps:
- Defeat all tower bosses in Feybreak and Sunreach.
- Defeat Auri inside her tower in Sunreach.
With those cleared, the quest chain continues like this:
- Talk to Auri and activate the quest tied to Panthalus.
- Collect four bones that appear on the map as whale skeletons.
- Note the bones aren’t normal markers; they’re skeletons placed on the map that require careful spotting.
- Travel to the Abandoned Island and unlock the fast travel point there if you don’t already have it.
- Speak with the NPC standing next to the fast travel point; this NPC provides the crucial blueprint.
- Return to your base and craft the corresponding flute at the workbench using the bones you collected.
- Go back to the Abandoned Island and interact with the tablet at the shrine.
- Play the flute, triggering Panthalus’s appearance.
What happens after the summon: the fight window
Once you play the flute and Panthalus appears, you don’t get unlimited time to engage. The sequence includes a strict 10-minute window to handle the battle and, if you choose, attempt to capture it.
That time limit matters because it turns Panthalus from a “gradual” encounter into a planned engagement. If you want to convert the encounter into a capture run, your setup needs to be ready before the summon—otherwise you risk losing both momentum and your opportunity within that 10-minute period.
Planning your push toward the World Tree
The World Tree isn’t just a new destination—it’s framed as content you reach through the Panthalus chain. Since Panthalus is both a major combat gate (Level 70, “especially powerful”) and a functional progression key (World Tree access), the smartest way to approach is to treat the quest steps as part of your build and loadout decision-making.
In practice, that means:
- Clearing the Feybreak/Sunreach tower bosses and Auri in Sunreach first, so the Panthalus quest is available.
- Preparing to identify the four whale skeletons on the map despite them not behaving like classic markers.
- Having the fast travel access on the Abandoned Island ready before you craft and return for the shrine interaction.
- Expecting a time-constrained encounter immediately after Panthalus spawns, with only 10 minutes to fight and potentially catch.
If you’re aiming to reach the World Tree efficiently, Panthalus should be treated as the central milestone—not a side quest boss you can stumble into later.
