Pokémon GO Rain Lure Module Explained: All 6 Lure Types, Spawns, Evolutions

Pokémon GO has six different Lure Modules you can activate on PokéStops to boost nearby spawns and, in some cases, unlock specific evolution paths. The newest addition is the Rain Lure Module, introduced in May 2021, and each module targets different Pokémon types for a limited time—so choosing the right lure can make a big difference depending on what you’re trying to catch or evolve.

How Lure Modules work (and for how long)

Once you place a Lure Module on a PokéStop, it remains active for 30 minutes. During that window, you can expect:

• More Pokémon spawns at the PokéStop
• Access to Pokémon that are themed around the module you activated
• Certain evolutions that only function when the right module is active nearby

To use one, select a PokéStop and tap the small Lure Module icon tied to the spinning disc, then choose the module you want to place from the list.

All six Lure Modules: spawns and evolutions

1. Rain Lure Module (available since May 2021)
   • Attracts: Water, Bug, and Electric-type Pokémon
   • Examples of spawns: Enton, Webarak, Lampi, Gehweiher, Frizelbliz, Wattzapf, Schallquap, Zapplardin, Flunschlik, Froxy
   • Evolutions: Allows Viscargot to evolve into Viscogon while the Rain Lure Module is active nearby (it also works when it’s raining in the game)
2. Glacier Lure Module
   • Attracts: Ice and Water-type Pokémon
   • Examples of spawns: Rossana, Karnimani, Evoli, Quiekel, Schneppke, Mantax, Seemops, Plinfa, Shnebedeck, Ottaro
   • Evolutions: Enables Evoli to evolve into Glaziola and Krabbox into Krawell while the module is active
3. Moss Lure Module
   • Attracts: More spawns of Bug, Grass, and Poison-type Pokémon
   • Examples of spawns: Myrapla, Knofensa, Bluzuk, Tangela, Evoli, Mogelbaum, Hoppspross, Kikugi, Yanma, Roselia, Knapfel, sweet or sour apples
   • Evolutions: Lets Evoli evolve into Folipurba while the Moss Lure Module is active
4. Magnetic Lure Module
   • Attracts: More Electric, Rock, and Steel-type Pokémon
   • Examples of spawns: Pikachu, Alola-Kleinstein, Magnetilo, Voltobal, Lektrobal, Blitza, Nasgnet, Stollunior, Tanhel, Wattzapf
   • Evolutions: Supports Magneton into Magnezone while active
   • Additional evolution: Also enables Nasgnet into Voluminas
   • Further update: Since August 2022, an additional evolution is available with an active Magnetic Lure Module: Mabula into Donarion (via Akkup as the step mentioned)
5. Normal Lure Module
   • Attracts: Pokémon matching what would normally spawn in the wild at that time
   • Evolutions: Does not unlock any special evolution effects by itself
6. Golden Lure Module
   • Special access: This is not obtainable in Pokémon GO directly; it becomes available when Pokémon GO is connected to the Nintendo Switch version “Karmesin & Purpur”
   • Attracts: Gierspenst (Wanderform)
   • Bonus at the PokéStop: The PokéStop turns gold and rewards you with Gierspenst coins when you spin the photo disc

Where to get Lure Modules, and cost

You can purchase Lure Modules from the Pokémon GO shop under the Items section.

• Standard price: 180 coins per module
• Exception: the Normal Lure Module costs 100 coins

Alternatively, Lure Modules can appear as research rewards from time to time. A Rain Lure Module was previously listed as a reward from “Illuminierende Legenden X,” and future research rewards may include more modules.

Lure Module benefits apply to everyone nearby. If you and friends are out together and one player activates a module on a PokéStop, all players in the area can benefit from the increased spawns and module effects.
