Gears of War: E-Day Gets an Official Open Beta Date for Xbox and PC
The Coalition has confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will include an open beta, giving players a chance to jump into the game’s multiplayer for several days ahead of launch. After the studio revealed the early access schedule for the beta, the new details clarify how Xbox fans and PC players can try the upcoming entry, and when everyone else will be able to download and play.
In a promotional update, The Coalition lays out two testing phases. Players who reserve Gears of War: E-Day, or who are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, will get access first. Shortly after, the open beta begins and the multiplayer becomes available to the wider community without requiring a reservation.
Open beta dates for Gears of War: E-Day
The testing timeline is set as follows:
- Early access: August 6 to August 10
- Open beta: August 13 to August 17
Early access runs from August 6 through August 10, and it’s available to players who pre-order the game before that window ends, or to anyone with an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass during the period. When the early phase ends, the open beta will let any player download and test the multiplayer without needing to have reserved the title.
During the beta tests, The Coalition says players will be able to experience a significant portion of the multiplayer content the studio has been showcasing. That includes the newly introduced cooperative mode Horde Siege, as well as a refreshed Versus, positioned as two major pillars of the multiplayer offering for this installment.
The goal of the beta is to bring in as many players as possible to stress-test the servers, share feedback, and help refine the experience before the full release. With both an early access phase and a full open window, Gears of War: E-Day is set up to be one of the biggest multiplayer betas the series has run in recent years—an opportunity for fans to sample the game’s newest co-op and competitive changes firsthand.
