Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls PC Blocked Regions Slowly Shrinking Ahead of Launch
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls launches in under a month, but the final countdown on PC is coming with frustrating friction. At release, the Steam version will be blocked in more than 100 territories—though that restriction list appears to be shrinking as the launch date gets closer.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Unblocked On PC In 15 Countries
When the blocking list was first posted, it was notably large, with 132 countries included. That’s a hefty slice of Steam’s overall reach, since it covers more than half of the territories where the storefront is available. SteamDB data now shows that number has eased to 117.
In practical terms, that means 15 additional countries should be able to access Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on PC at launch. It’s not a complete fix—especially given how many regions were affected initially—but the trend is at least moving in the right direction. The reason for the reduction is still unclear, particularly because the current belief is that the restrictions tie back to PlayStation Network requirements.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is published by PlayStation and will only release on PS5 for console players. On the PC side, though, it’s still coming to Steam, and its multiplayer focus is one of the reasons it hasn’t been forced into PlayStation’s broader push to stop supporting PC releases for first-party games.
It’s Believed PSN PC Requirements Are To Blame
That’s the brighter side of the situation. The downside is tied to how the game works online: even though it’s launching on PC, players are expected to have an active PSN subscription in order to play. It isn’t the same kind of paid add-on as PS Plus, but it still isn’t available everywhere, which is where the regional problems come from.
While no official statement has been made through formal channels, the prevailing assumption is that PSN requirements are exactly what caused the surprise discovery that people in 132 countries—now reduced to 117—won’t be able to play the new Marvel fighting game on the platform of their choice when it arrives, or won’t be able to play at all unless they have a PS5.
This is the same kind of headache that hit Helldivers 2, which was abruptly pulled from availability in more than 150 countries.
The revelation sparked a petition, but it hasn’t gathered enough momentum to make a meaningful difference. When coverage first surfaced, it was sitting at roughly 2,000 signatures. Since then, only about 700 more people have added their names.
Even if the petition is struggling to gain traction, at least the blocked-country count for Marvel Tokon appears to be falling. The hope is that the number keeps dropping, giving Arc System Works the best chance of having the game accessible in as many territories as possible on PC by release day—August 6.
