Leaker Claims Resident Evil Requiem Will Get Big Expansions Like Shadows of Rose

Resident Evil Requiem landed earlier this year to strong reviews and impressive sales, and it looks like Capcom isn’t finished supporting the project. Even with the game already out in the wild, whispers around additional content have kept resurfacing—this time with more specific claims attached.

Rumours had been circulating that Capcom was working on expansions shortly after Requiem’s release. Now Dusk Golem, a long-running Resident Evil data miner and leaker, says the studio is pursuing multiple add-ons. The key detail is the suggested scope: they’d reportedly be roughly the same “length and ambition” as Shadows of Rose, a major expansion tied to Resident Evil Village.

Requiem Could Get Expansions That Match Village’s Scale

In their message, Dusk Golem says they heard Capcom is putting resources into longer story DLC for upcoming Resident Evil plans. Their wording frames it as a shift toward expansions on the scale of Separate Ways and Shadows of Rose, not quick side content. They also connect this approach to both Requiem and future entries in the series.

Dusk Golem also ties the decision to Capcom’s recent track record with standalone spin-offs. The claim is that the studio has struggled to produce side games in the current cycle, so expansions function as a practical middle ground—something that can fit between larger releases while still delivering a meaningful narrative package.

There’s also talk about timing. Dusk Golem says that any expansions for Requiem would arrive after Resident Evil Veronica, the remake of Code Veronica scheduled for release next year. If accurate, that would place Requiem’s extra stories firmly on a post-remake timeline rather than immediately following the original launch window.

To understand why an expansion concept could feel “on brand,” it helps to look at what Requiem sets up. The game’s final sequence shows an unknown group of soldiers cutting down BSAA units in the ruins of Raccoon City, all in pursuit of an “objective.” Resident Evil has a long tradition of secretive organisations and hidden agendas popping up just when Leon and his allies think they’ve reached the end of the road, and this ending line up fits that pattern neatly.

Requiem’s second half also plays like a return trip for Leon, bringing him back to Raccoon City—the same location tied to the start of his story in Resident Evil 2. With that in mind, it’s easy to imagine an expansion that lets Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield tackle their own lingering trauma from earlier games. It would be a compelling idea, but Dusk Golem’s broader assessment suggests something like that is unlikely.

Even so, an expansion for Requiem could plausibly center on Grace. Dusk Golem points out she’s the newest major character in the series, and that she’s also extremely popular. At the same time, the structure of past Resident Evil expansions often drops players into already high-powered situations, and Grace isn’t necessarily known for combat strength in the same way as the franchise’s most battle-tested leads.

At this point, it’s hard to say exactly what Capcom is building behind the scenes. Still, Dusk Golem’s perspective leans toward Leon not being the playable focus. They argue that Leon’s end-of-game, death-defying moment reads like a kind of farewell for a fan-favourite character, which would make a future expansion starring him feel less likely than other options.
