Palworld 1.0: Unlock the World Tree by Completing Its Quest Chain

The World Tree region is one of the standout additions in Palworld 1.0, finally revealing a mysterious area that players have been waiting to access since the game’s early access days. Still, getting to the giant tree isn’t as simple as flying straight there. A strong barrier blocks entry, and the only way past it is to complete a dedicated quest chain. If you’re looking to explore the new biome, track down late-game materials, and move further into Palworld’s main narrative, here’s the full walkthrough for unlocking the World Tree.

You’ll also want to collect all the different plant seeds across Palworld so you can build a garden, grow crops, and keep your base supplied. This guide covers where to locate every seed in the game.

How To Unlock Palworld’s World Tree

The World Tree is located on the massive island in the southeastern portion of the map. While spotting the island itself is straightforward, actually entering the region takes more work.

To unlock the World Tree, make your way to the Deserted Islet, a smaller island close to the World Tree area. On that island, talk to the Ancient Civilization Researcher NPC. They explain that they’re examining the remains of a massive whale-like creature and provide you with the blueprint for the Echoing Flute. Taking the quest also kicks off the Panthalus storyline and pins four whale bone locations on your map, so you can quickly see where to go next.

Collect the Whale Bones and Craft the Echoing Flute

Go to each of the four marked whale remains and gather the needed Echobones. After you’ve collected every bone, return to any Primitive Workbench.

Now craft the Echoing Flute using the Echobones you collected. This instrument is required to awaken the guardian that protects the World Tree.

Once the flute is complete, head back to the Ancient Civilization Researcher on the Deserted Islet.

Defeat and Capture Panthalus

Speak with the researcher again, then interact with the shrine nearby. Playing the Echoing Flute at the shrine will summon Panthalus.

Panthalus is a Level 70 Water-type Pal with a huge health pool, which makes it one of the more punishing boss encounters you’ll face in Palworld 1.0. Electric-type Pals are especially effective here due to the elemental matchup.

One key detail can’t be overlooked: you must capture Panthalus. If Panthalus is defeated without being caught, the quest chain won’t be able to continue.

Return to the World Tree

After you successfully capture Panthalus, talk to the researcher one last time to wrap up the quest. This unlocks the next step, titled To The World Tree.

Travel back to the World Tree entrance and interact with the terminal again. This time, the barrier vanishes, followed by a short sequence. After that, the World Tree region stays permanently open. From then on, you can access it whenever you want.

With the region unlocked, you’ll gain entry to the new biome along with valuable crafting resources, stronger Pals, and the final story mission, The Sealed Calamity.

What Can You Find Inside the World Tree?

The World Tree is Palworld 1.0’s primary endgame location. Inside, you’ll discover fresh exploration areas, rare crafting materials, high-level enemies, and new Pals that can’t be found anywhere else. A lot of the newest crafting recipes and progression systems in the game also depend on materials that you can only get from this region.
