Disney Dreamlight Valley Gems Guide: All Varieties, Locations, and Uses

Gems are a type of mineral you can mine in Disney Dreamlight Valley using your pickaxe. You’ll find them in mining rocks scattered across the Valley, and there are 24 distinct gem varieties to track down. Beyond just being valuable collectibles, these gems can also serve as quest objectives, friendship-style gift items for characters, and ingredients for crafting furniture and other in-game goods.

Gem Respawn Rules (and How to Keep Mining Efficiently)

After you clear out mining rocks, they won’t stay empty forever. Once depleted, all mining rocks will respawn every five minutes. When they come back, there’s a chance that a mining rock will return as a gem rock—though it can also respawn as something else entirely, such as Iron Ore or Coal.

Even if a mining rock doesn’t respawn as a gem rock, there’s still a rare possibility you’ll receive a gem anyway. If you’re trying to find a particular gem type, the recommended strategy is to mine/deplete all available mining rocks in the area, then return after they respawn and try again.
