Solo Leveling Announces Antares as Main Antagonist for 2026 Game Karma
Solo Leveling kicked off a big screen push on July 3, 2026 with the reveal of Solo Leveling: Beyond The System, a new movie produced by A-1 Pictures and Aniplex. But the spotlight isn’t on cinema alone—Netmarble is also gearing up a major 2026 game release, Solo Leveling: Karma, and fresh details from Anime Expo 2026 confirm who the game’s main antagonist will be: Antares.
Solo Leveling: Karma Puts Antares Front and Center
In Solo Leveling: Karma, Antares is positioned as the most formidable threat for a large stretch of the story, even when compared to the Monarchs and even Jinwoo himself. He’s expected to remain unbeatable until the finale, when Jinwoo reaches a peak again right before the timeline rewinds—at which point Antares’ role as the series’ toughest obstacle is effectively challenged.
On July 5, 2026, Netmarble followed up with a new update for Solo Leveling: Karma, which had previously been announced in November 2025. The new reveal included fresh visuals and a gameplay teaser, plus additional supporting material and a new Q&A.
The game is set to cover the long-awaited 27-Year Monarch War—an era that the novel and manhwa largely summarized or skipped over without getting too deep. Because this arc is at the center of the story, fans already expected Antares to return as the key threat, and Anime Expo 2026 provided a closer look at what that means in practice.
One of the biggest new pieces of information: Antares will be voiced in English by Troy Baker. The event also offered glimpses of his dialogue and how he shows up in gameplay moments. Strength, though, is the real headline. Solo Leveling: Karma is set to present Antares as the absolute top threat for a significant portion of the narrative.
That framing ties back to what kicks off the 27-Year War: Sung Jinwoo uses a Cup of Reincarnation to rewind time. He requests the method from the Rulers so he can defeat the Monarchs again without causing bloodshed on his side. The rewind forces Jinwoo into an exhausting solo run—one where he prevents figures like Goo Gunhee and others from dying during the process.
Because time is rolled back, Jinwoo is reset to his teenage body before he ever gains System powers. He eventually gets the System back, but his level is reset to 0, meaning he has to rebuild from the beginning all over again.
With that setup, Antares is portrayed as significantly stronger than Sung Jinwoo while the story is in its early and mid stages in Solo Leveling: Karma. The game also highlights dragon-related abilities for Antares, which connect to what fans saw in the original timeline during the series’ final battle against Jinwoo. On top of that, Antares is said to have knowledge of events from the earlier timeline—giving him the advantage of preparation and awareness of Jinwoo’s plans. The game also directly states that Antares has obtained new powers, though the exact scope of those upgrades hasn’t been spelled out yet.
Solo Leveling has also announced its next major movie event for 2027, with Beyond The System potentially positioned to challenge Infinity Castle for the title of the largest anime film of all time.
Jinwoo Climbs Back—But Only Surpasses Antares at the End
In the Solo Leveling manhwa—specifically chapter 178—Jinwoo is shown back as a teenager in South Korea before the main events begin. He retains his memories, but he’s far from his peak power. The rewrite of the timeline also affects his Shadows: he’s able to keep some of them after the time reset, but he loses Greed and Iron because their human counterparts are still alive in the current timeline.
In this altered sequence, Jinwoo never becomes a Hunter. Instead, he has to grow by traveling through a dimensional crack and pushing directly into conflicts against the Monarchs and other threats. As the story progresses, Jinwoo does level up from scratch and eventually becomes stronger than before—but even so, he won’t match Antares until the very end.
The logic is straightforward. If Jinwoo started the arc already at full strength, the Monarchs wouldn’t have had a chance, and the entire situation wouldn’t have stretched into 27 years of escalating pressure. The time rewind uses the Cup of Reincarnation, and the narrative frames it as requiring a major sacrifice from Jinwoo for the sake of all humanity.
Newly revealed clips from Solo Leveling: Karma show Jinwoo confronting Antares early on. The outcome of that encounter hasn’t been confirmed, but it’s implied that Antares may hold the advantage because Jinwoo is still dealing with the weaknesses created by the reset.

More Monarch War Enemies, Plus New Antagonists
Antares is described as the strongest threat within the roster Jinwoo faces during the 27-Year Monarch War, but he won’t be walking straight to him. The battles leading up to Antares are meant to help Jinwoo level up further and prepare him for the final showdown. Since the arc centers on the war itself, Jinwoo’s objective is to eliminate every Monarch before he reaches Antares—though the game hasn’t yet clarified which Monarch he encounters first.
Solo Leveling: Karma Adds Corrupted Allies and a New Name—Nemir
From what’s currently known via the novel and manhwa, Jinwoo fights one of the most powerful Monarchs—Yogumunt, the Monarch of Transfiguration—right before Antares. More specifics will wait until Solo Leveling: Karma launches.
At Anime Expo 2026 on July 5, 2026, additional details emerged about Antares’ tactics. The event revealed that Antares will use a corrupted version of Jinwoo’s closest allies against him. In the teaser, viewers saw Jinwoo fight and kill a corrupted Jinho. The reveal also introduced a new enemy named Nemir.
Little has been shared about Nemir’s background or what role he’ll play beyond being an upcoming antagonist, but the reveal is framed as an exciting expansion of the threats Jinwoo will have to deal with.
“Within, only the lingering emotions of a failed past remain. He knows not why he exists or why he fights; he holds only a single command etched into his very being: “Eliminate Sung Jinwoo and control the power of death.” Whenever Nemir looks at Sung Jinwoo, he feels a twisted desire to drag him into despair. “I will drag you down into the depths of this hell.” — Nemir Description from Solo Leveling Karma
Platforms and Timing: Where You Can Play in 2026
Solo Leveling: Karma is planned for PC, iOS, and Android. As for timing, the only confirmed window is the second half of 2026. Even with its presence at Anime Expo 2026, no exact release day has been announced yet—so fans will need to wait for the next set of updates.
When it arrives, Solo Leveling: Karma is positioned as a follow-up that aims to outpace earlier entries, including Solo Leveling: Arise and Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive.
