Best Ballista Class Build in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 for Long Range

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has returned to PlayStation following the launch of PS4 and PS5 versions, giving longtime fans and new players a chance to jump back into one of the franchise’s most memorable eras. If you’re loading in right now, you may already be running into players using the Ballista—especially those firing from long range. If you’re wondering which class setup is most effective for the Ballista, here’s a strong meta build you can use in Black Ops 2.

The Emblem Editor is also still available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Black Ops 2. Below is a quick guide for copying any emblem in the game.

Best Ballista Class Setup in Black Ops 2

Best Ballista Build

  • Ballistic CPU: Reduces weapon sway while aiming, helping keep the Ballista as accurate as possible.
  • Fast Mag: Speeds up reloads, which helps minimize downtime when you need to swap magazines.

The Ballista loadout I chose is a simple, classic approach: it only uses two attachments. That leaves extra flexibility for Perks and a Secondary weapon choice while still keeping the Ballista performing at its best. Some players may consider running a Suppressor or FMJ, but both come with trade-offs—suppression and FMJ can reduce your gun’s effective damage range, and FMJ is mainly useful for shooting through cover.

Recommended Secondary

  • B23R with an Extended Clip

For my Secondary, I went with the B23R, the classic burst-fire pistol that many players will recognize. The damage output is solid, and it’s a great backup when an enemy gets too close. Another option to consider is the KAP-40, a fully automatic machine pistol, but the B23R is simply more dependable in practice.

Best Perks

  • Hardline (Perk 1)
  • Toughness (Perk 2)
  • Dexterity (Perk 3)
  • Awareness (Perk 3 with the Perk 3 Greed Wildcard)

Perks are flexible, but this setup sticks to a familiar option that uses the Perk 3 Greed Wildcard. Hardline and Toughness are straightforward: they help you reach your streaks faster and reduce the annoying flinch that can throw off your aim.

Dexterity is mainly there for faster aim speed after sprinting, while Awareness helps you catch footsteps more easily if someone is trying to sneak up on you. If you’re constantly running into players who rely on Dead Silence, you can swap Awareness out for another Perk that fits your style.
