Black Ops 2 Zombies Guide: What Double Tap 2.0 Does and How It Works

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies brought updates to several Perk-a-Colas and also added brand-new options to the perk lineup. One example is Double Tap 2.0, which boosts your fire rate and lets your shots fire two bullets for the cost of one. Because these upgrades can completely change how runs play out, it helps to understand what all 11 Perks in Black Ops 2 Zombies do, including any hidden behaviors—plus which maps each perk shows up on—so you’re not stuck without a crucial effect when you load in.

Beyond the standard Perk-a-Colas, Black Ops 2 Zombies also includes Perma-Perks. The sections below walk through what they do and where they can be found.

These Perma-Perks are unique and must be unlocked through special methods. Some of them can provide serious, run-altering advantages.

Double Tap 2.0: Fire Rate and “Two for One” Shots

Fire Rate is increased by 33%.

Your weapon fires 2 bullets while only consuming 1 bullet.

In practice, it functions like double damage, but it does not apply to explosives.

JuggerNog: More Health, Longer Survival

Health increases by 150, bringing your total to 250.

This change lets you survive four zombie hits. You’ll still fall on the fifth.

It can be paired with Perma-JuggerNog to absorb eight hits instead of the usual two.

Speed Reload: Faster Reload Times

Your reload speed is increased by 50%.

Quick Revive: Solo Self-Revives and Co-Op Assistance

In Solo, you can revive yourself up to three times. Each time you go down, you will have Mustang & Sally available (unless you have a Ray Gun).

In co-op, your revive speed toward other players is doubled to 1.5 seconds.

That revive speed improves further with Perma-Quick Revive, reducing the time to 0.75 seconds.

Stamin-Up: Move Faster, Sprint Longer, and Reduce Weapon Slowdown

You move 7% faster, including while walking, running, and even when prone.

Your sprint lasts twice as long.

Weapons you carry feel lighter, which means your movement is less restricted.

You also gain access to a third weapon slot.

However, once you go down, Mule Kick is removed and you lose that third carried weapon.

Mule Kick Down/Death Behavior and Tombstone Retrieval

When you go down and bleed out, you will respawn in the next Round.

At your location of death, you can find your “Tombstone”.

Interacting with it allows you to get your perks and weapons back.

Perma-JuggerNog and “Doppelganger” Revival Mechanics

When you are downed, you instantly spawn as a doppelganger equipped with a 1911.

To keep your perks and weapons, you must revive yourself by navigating through the zombies and doing so before you bleed out.

If you bleed out, you remain as the doppelganger.

Accuracy, Sniper Handling, and Head-Centered Aim Assist

Your hipfire accuracy improves by 35%.

Sniper Rifles experience reduced sway.

Aim assist targets the head (but not on PC).

Electric Cherry: Reload-Triggered Shockwave and How Power Scales

You electrify the radius around you to damage and stun zombies, but only when you reload.

The strength of the electric wave depends on your magazine size: the fewer bullets you have loaded, the more powerful the electric wave becomes.

Wall Vision and Zombie Drops: Perception and Resource Gains

You can see Perk Machines, Wall-Buys, and Mystery Box locations through walls.

Zombies can drop ammo or points.

Ammo drops equal 10% of your weapon’s magazine size, and points range from 5 to 20.

Zombies may also release a green gas cloud. If you kill a zombie and then stand within that cloud, you become temporarily invisible to zombies.

Damage Immunities and Explosive Movement

You are immune to self-explosive damage.

You can Dolphin Dive from a raised surface to trigger an explosion.

Buried Secret Perma-Perk: PhD Flopper

You can also obtain PhD Flopper as a secret Perma-Perk in Buried.

Community-Style Perk Loadout: The “Always Run” Set

No matter the map, this is the same four-perk setup:

  • JuggerNog — treated as the starting and “forever” perk because it adds more health, helping prevent downs from happening in only two hits.
  • Double Tap 2.0 — described as the perk that provides double damage, so it’s presented as a must-have.
  • Quick Revive (Solo) — valued as essentially “three extra lives,” delaying a game over until you’re ready.
  • Stamin-Up — preferred for faster movement, longer sprints, and reduced weapon slowdown while training zombies and staying mobile.

When Playing Co-Op: Swapping Quick Revive and Stamin-Up

When not playing Solo, Quick Revive is usually skipped in favor of options like Speed Cola or Electric Cherry.

Stamin-Up can also be swapped out for one of those perks, but the preference remains for faster movement and longer runs—because the plan is to avoid corner camping.
