How to Get the Mystery Key in Deltarune
You can’t use the Mystery Key until you buy it. Head to the shop in the Cliffs area and purchase it there; it costs 10 Pink Coins. That means you’ll want to spend some time moving around the Flower Kingdom to collect enough Pink Coins before you commit.
Once you’ve collected at least 10 Pink Coins, use any fast travel door to return to the Cliffs Shop. Inside, the Mystery Key appears as the fourth item in the shop’s list. Buy it, then keep working through Chapter 5 until you reach Green’s Shop near the end of the chapter.
There are 19 Pink Coins in total. Even after spending 10 on the Mystery Key, you’ll still have plenty left to grab the remaining coins later—especially if you’re trying to unlock the chapter’s secret weapons and armor.
Where to Use the Mystery Key in Deltarune
After you reach Green’s Shop, move to the right side of the area and climb all the way up to the highest platform. From there, head left into a long platforming stretch packed with bouncing flowers that swing back and forth.
To cross, time your jumps carefully and attack the flowers so they bounce you across the gaps. If you fall, you’re sent back to the start of the section. As you push forward, watch out for the floating knives, then keep advancing until you spot a safe opening where you can drop down.
Reach the Pink Door
Eventually, you’ll spot a pinwheel-style mechanism. Interact with it to rotate the wheel and remove the platform underneath your feet.
As you drop, slash through the blue flowers blocking your route, guiding yourself through the opening below. During the fall sequence, guns fire circular rings directly at your Soul. Even if you get clipped a few times, the encounter is fairly forgiving and shouldn’t wipe out your health too quickly.
When the sequence ends, you land in a new room with a large pink door and a perspective switch. Switch back to your normal form, walk up to the door, and use the Mystery Key to unlock it.
What Happens After Opening the Pink Door
Unlocking the Pink Door opens access to Chapter 5’s hidden boss encounter featuring Pink, also known as Mad Mew Mew. Winning this optional fight rewards you with another Shadow Crystal.
In addition to the Pink boss fight, you’ll also gain entry to the special weapons and armor room. In this space, seven Colored Flowers offer unique equipment you can’t obtain anywhere else in Chapter 5, making the detour worthwhile even if you primarily care about upgrading your party.
Because the area stays reachable through fast travel after you unlock it, you can always come back later. That makes it easy to prepare your loadout before you take on the secret boss.
If you want the Pink boss fight to feel more manageable, bring a batch of Green Tea healing items.
Mysterious Structures in Deltarune Chapter 5 also call for a special power to activate. Here’s how to obtain the Petal Feather so you can keep exploring.
Is the Mystery Key Worth Buying?
Yes, definitely. Even though spending 10 Pink Coins can feel like a hassle early on, the Mystery Key unlocks one of the most significant optional areas in Chapter 5. If you’re chasing 100% completion or simply don’t want to miss hidden content, buying and using the Mystery Key before finishing the chapter should be high on your priority list.
