Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Guide: The World Without Gold Chapter Explained
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sticks closely to the original campaign structure, running through the same 12 Sequences. Still, this remaster adds enough new content to justify a replay: extra side activities, new Naval Officers you can recruit for the Jackdaw, and a brand-new chapter called “A World Without Gold.”
This added questline kicks off right after Sequence 11. It introduces Maynard as a fresh antagonist and unfolds through several distinct missions. Below is a full mission-by-mission walkthrough, plus a practical fix for a progression bug that can stall the storyline.
One more early reward matters for planning: after finishing the first memory in Sequence 8, Resynced players receive Blackbeard’s Treasure Map. This guide also covers how to solve it.
Release & availability snapshot
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is presented here as a remaster-style rework of the original adventure, with the “A World Without Gold” chapter and other additions included as part of this version’s content.

The questline begins at the docks in Great Inagua. Head toward the objective marker close to the tavern, interact with it, and wait to trigger the opening cutscene.
After the scene ends, go to Anne Bonny and follow her back to the Jackdaw to watch the next cutscene. Once that finishes, you complete the first mission.

Travel to Kingston by sailing or by fast traveling to a nearby point, then walking into the city. Move west until you find the marked barn. Inside, you’ll investigate three separate clues.
- Remove the guard inside the barn and loot his body.
- Find a letter pinned to the wall.
- Locate an additional clue outside the barn through the open doorway.
Before you start searching, clear out the enemies around the barn to make the clue hunt smoother. When all three clues are collected, return to the Jackdaw to finish the mission.

Your next task is to track down HMS Demolition, located south of Eleuthera. Use the spyglass from a distance to identify the ship, then follow it until it connects with the rest of its fleet.
Instead of charging straight at the Man o’ War, separate the smaller ships first: lure them away and sink them before you commit. If your health drops too low, board one of the ships and use the Restore Health option after you lower its morale.
Once the escorts are gone, focus fully on HMS Demolition. As a Man o’ War, it’s built for a longer fight. When you disable the ship, board it and reduce its morale by defeating the crew and cutting down its flag. After the battle, a cutscene introduces Deadman and completes the mission.
The next mission won’t appear unless you’ve already finished the first two Officer Questlines for both Lucy Baldwin and Abel Galvao (the Padre). In practice, that means you must unlock both your Shipwright role and Master-at-Arms role before the Maynard chapter can continue. The four officer quests you need are listed below, and you can also consult a walkthrough guide for officer quests if you have trouble finding them:
- A Proper Shipwright
- The One With the Gun
- A Second Chance
- Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage
If you’re aiming for the Davy Jones’ Locker trophy/achievement in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, you’ll want to know where to swim to reach the lowest point. (The source then transitions into the next mission walkthrough.)
It’s A Start
Fast travel back to your Manor in Great Inagua, then start the mission by discussing the Maynard threat. After the cutscene, you’ll need to speak with your officers.
Go downstairs to find Abel Galvao beside several rum crates. Help him carry them, then fight the enemies that belong to your crew. Next, move behind the Manor to locate Lucy. Follow her and shoot the highlighted pistol targets while the two of you talk about the Armada. Finally, head to the beach, meet Deadman, and then return to the Manor for the last cutscene.
After completing this mission, two new quests unlock, and you can choose which one to tackle first. However, during one playthrough, the second mission failed to appear after the first cutscene, which stopped progress through the Maynard questline.
The first troubleshooting step is to avoid skipping dialogue after Deadman joins your crew. Rather than fast traveling immediately when the mission ends, sail back to the Jackdaw and let the conversations play out naturally. The reported bug seemed to trigger when those dialogue moments were skipped.
The second workaround (which worked in the same playthrough) is to load an earlier save from before this mission, then focus on Tobias “Deadman” Smith’s Officer Quests. You don’t have to complete his full chain, but you should at least reach the third officer quest, where you unlock Deadman’s Cohort Mortar. After doing that, the Maynard questline progressed normally.
I Just Want To Talk
Meet Lucy at the tavern in Nassau and watch the opening cutscene. Follow the objective marker until you locate Maynard’s Treasurer. Kill him, loot the letter from his body, then return to Lucy. When you’ve spoken with her, head back to the Jackdaw to wrap up the mission.
Not Our Natural Allies
Travel to Santanillas and locate the Padre meeting with several Spanish allies. After the conversation, sail together to Serranilla, where you launch an assault against Maynard’s Armada. Destroy every hostile ship to complete the objective, and then watch the cutscene that immediately follows to end the mission.
A Cockalorum
Sail to Tortuga and dock at the marked location, then swim ashore. Follow Lucy across the island until you reach Maynard’s heavily guarded villa. Clear the area your preferred way, then search the house for Maynard’s treasure.
Interact with the following items:
- Maynard’s portrait upstairs.
- The jaguar statue on the ground floor.
- A letter upstairs on a barrel.
After the cutscene, escape back to the Jackdaw. Don’t waste time fighting every guard you see—focus on removing anyone blocking your path and keep moving. Once you’re aboard, sail away from Tortuga. Enemy ships will ambush you, so sink them all to finish the mission.
Advanced Parkour in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced also removes the rooftop run restriction, giving players more freedom for high-speed free-running across rooftops.
A World Without Gold
Travel to Port Royal near Kingston to begin the final mission. After you arrive, you’ll receive three objectives that can be completed in any order.
- Destroy the cannons alongside Deadman.
- Sabotage the gunpowder with Lucy.
- Free the prisoners with the Padre.
Once all three tasks are complete, go aboard Maynard’s ship. Plant charges on the explosives, then search for his treasure. The objective marker leads into a large enemy group, so clear them out before returning to the Jackdaw.
You then face another major naval battle against Maynard’s Armada. Use the same approach as before: pull smaller ships away from the cluster first, and board them when you need to restore the Jackdaw’s health. When the fleet is defeated, the HMS Ipswich arrives alongside three additional ships.
Unlike many naval fights, your Broadsides and Mortars won’t damage the HMS Ipswich due to its heavy armor. Instead, shoot the explosive barrels it drops into the water. Those blasts gradually weaken the armor, and once it’s sufficiently reduced, you can disable the ship by performing a successful ram.
With the vessel disabled, board it and finish the final duel by defeating Maynard. After he’s beaten, the concluding cutscene plays, ending both the mission and the entire “A World Without Gold” questline.
