Mass Effect 3 Citadel Improved Power Grid Walkthrough: Objectives & Rewards

Mass Effect 3’s Citadel: Improved Power Grid side mission tasks you with tracking down grid schematics and delivering them to the right person—while also juggling when the quest becomes available and what happens if you’re late to turn it in. Here’s a complete walkthrough-style breakdown of the mission’s setup, objectives, and rewards.

Key takeaways

  • The side mission can’t be finished after “Priority: Tuchanka,” so turn it in before that point in the story.
  • After completing “Priority: Palaven,” the Citadel opens up and you can meet Alison at the Purgatory bar.
  • To recover the required schematics, you must first complete “Priority: Sur’Kesh.”
  • During the relevant N7 content, you’ll find the “Old Grid Schematics” by checking the left side of a command console facing a hologram.
  • If you missed those schematics, you can purchase “Power Grid Schematics” for 1,000 credits at Spectre Requisitions on the Citadel.
  • Once you hand the schematics to Alison, you’ll receive the mission rewards for completing the quest.

Meet Alison

  • Prerequisite: Complete “Priority: Palaven”
  • Location: Serpent Nebula – Widow – Citadel – Purgatory

Once you finish “Priority: Palaven,” the entire Citadel becomes available, letting you visit the Purgatory bar. Outside the bar entrance stands Alison, a woman wearing a black-and-white outfit. She’s taking a call about trying to set up a better light display for soldiers on shore leave, but she can’t proceed because the bar’s power grid is already running at full capacity.

Recover Grid Schematics

  • Prerequisite: Complete “Priority: Sur’Kesh”
  • Location: Krogan DMZ – Aralakh – Tuchanka

There’s a way to obtain improved grid schematics during the “N7: Cerberus Attack” side mission, which becomes available after you clear “Priority: Sur’Kesh.” In that mission, you’ll be clearing out Cerberus forces as you push forward toward an elevated Command Console.

Inside the area, you’ll actually find two consoles. One is higher up and holds the Command Console you need to activate, while the other sits lower with a hologram showing a cruiser and several fighters. When you face the hologram, look to the left side of the console to locate the Old Grid Schematics you’re after.

If you previously missed the Old Grid Schematics from “N7: Cerberus Attack,” you can return to Spectre Requisitions on the Citadel. There, you can buy the “Power Grid Schematics” for 1,000 credits, and that purchase will also satisfy this quest’s requirement.

Deliver Grid Schematics

After you obtain the power grid schematics using either method, go back to Alison (the technician) and hand them over. She’ll express her thanks, and you’ll receive your rewards for completing the mission.
