Black Ops Ascension Casimir Mechanism Easter Egg: Full Step-by-Step Guide
The Casimir Mechanism easter egg tucked into Ascension for Black Ops and Black Ops 3 is one of those Zombies challenges that feels mysterious at first—until you know the exact sequence. With the Ultimis crew helping Anton Gersh, you can knock it out quickly, aiming to have it finished by round 8 as long as you show up prepared with wonder weapons. Below is the full, step-by-step walkthrough.
Shangri-La’s easter egg also comes with multiple puzzle beats, but this updated guide breaks the process down in a way that makes each stage much more manageable for Zombies players.
For Ascension, the easter egg is designed for four players. That said, PC players using Plutonium can grab BO1-Full-Solo-Mods to tackle it solo, or run it with a smaller party in 2- or 3-player co-op.
Ascension Easter Egg Steps Overview
- Turn on the Power.
- Activate Pack-a-Punch by using the three Lunar Landers.
- Use a Gersh Device on a Power Generator outside the map.
- Interact with the computer in the junkyard.
- Press the 4 red buttons during a Space Monkey round.
- Spend 60 seconds in the Pack-a-Punch area.
- Use Lunar Landers to retrieve floating letters to spell “LUNA”.
- Use a Gersh Device on a white wisp and shoot it with Wonder Weapons.
Step #1: Turn on the Power
When you first load into Ascension, the map will be washed of color. Your first job is restoring power. Take the stairs upward, then turn right to enter the office building. Keep climbing the stairs until you locate the Power Switch, flip it on, and the world will return to normal—unlocking access to Perks and the Lunar Landers.
Step #2: Activate Pack-a-Punch
With the Power restored, it’s time to bring Pack-a-Punch online. You do this by riding each of the three Lunar Landers:
- Summon the Lunar Lander in the courtyard (using PhD Flopper) and ride it to Spawn.
- Summon the Lunar Lander in the upstairs area near Speed Cola and ride it to Spawn.
- Summon the Lunar Lander in the junkyard to the right of Stamin-Up and ride it to Spawn.
Once you’ve done that, check the terminal computer above the Lunar Lander at Spawn—the rocket should appear highlighted in green. You can go back to the Power Room and press the red button to fire off the Ascension rocket. After that, head to the lower area near Speed Cola and Mule Kick to find the newly opened door containing Pack-a-Punch.
You can shoot down the rocket after it launches with a Ray Gun, but it isn’t required for the easter egg. If you do destroy it, you’ll only get a brief Double Points Power-Up that drops into the Pack-a-Punch room.
Step #3: Use a Gersh Device on a Power Generator
Spin the Mystery Box until you pull a Gersh Device. After you have it, look toward the unreachable area at the bottom of the Lunar Lander section where PhD Flopper is located. In the distance, there’s a generator you can target with a Gersh Device—when you throw it at the generator, it will be teleported away.
Step #4: Interact With the Computer
With the generator relocated, move to the junkyard / Lunar Lander repair station near Stamin-Up. Under the stairs, in the water puddle, you’ll find a computer you can interact with. Keep interacting until the display shows the triangle / Illuminati-style symbol.
Step #5: Press the 4 Buttons in the Monkey Round
During the Space Monkey round, four red buttons will appear—and they only show up during that specific round type. All players must press them simultaneously. If you’re using the solo mod, you still need to hit them within a set window: within 90 seconds. The buttons are located in these spots:
- To the left of Stamin-Up.
- To the left of PhD Flopper / Widow’s Wine, on the wall.
- Opposite JuggerNog.
- To the right of Speed Cola, on a yellow sign.
Step #6: Spend 120 Seconds Underneath the Pack-a-Punch Rocket
Head to the Pack-a-Punch area. Before you reach the Pack-a-Punch machine itself, you’ll notice the rocket pad and a metal grating floor. There’s also a wall clock currently showing 12, signaling you’re at the correct step. Your goal is to stand on the metal grates for 120 seconds until the clock disappears.
If any player steps off the grating, the timer resets and you’ll have to repeat the 60-second portion described earlier. To make the defense easier, consider using Gersh Devices to keep zombies away longer. If you’re holding strong firepower, Thunder Guns and other heavy weapons can help you hold the line for the full two minutes.
Step #7: Use the Lunar Lander to Grab the LUNA Letters
Once the clock is gone, floating letters will appear in the sky between the Lunar Landers. You need to spell “L-U-N-A” using those floating characters. To do it, have one player stand on a Lunar Lander while teammates call the Lunar Lander to the correct locations in sequence:
- When the Lunar Lander is at Spawn, call it to Stamin-Up / Junkyard.
- When the Lunar Lander is at Stamin-Up / Junkyard, call it back to Spawn.
- When the Lunar Lander is at Spawn, call it to Speed Cola (where the Sickle is).
- When the Lunar Lander is at Speed Cola, call it back to Stamin-Up / Junkyard.
If you’re playing solo with the mod, this step will automatically complete for you.
Step #8: Charge the White Wisp
The final stage is charging the white wisp, which is located in the Lunar Lander repair zone by Stamin-Up. However, to charge it, you’ll need a Thunder Gun, a Ray Gun, a Gersh Device, and Matryoshka Dolls. All of them can be acquired from the Mystery Box.
Once you have the required items, throw a Gersh Device onto the top of the wisp and immediately deploy the Matryoshka Dolls. Then, have everyone on your team fire Ray Guns and the Thunder Gun into the Gersh Device area. If you execute it correctly, the wisp will shoot up into the sky, completing the easter egg.
If you’re running solo via the mod, you can simplify this: throw the Gersh Device and use a Pack-a-Punch Thunder Gun plus a Pack-a-Punch Ray Gun instead of the dolls.
This Ascension easter egg isn’t required for the Moon easter egg. Moon only needs progress from Call of the Dead and Shangri-La. Still, completing the Ascension challenge is worth it—because it grants a 90-second Death Machine. In Black Ops 3, the reward becomes a Perkaholic.
