How to Earn the Davy Jones’s Locker Trophy in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered comes with a sizeable list of trophies and achievements—49 in total, and 50 on PlayStation due to the Platinum requirement. A portion of those will fall naturally as you progress through the main story, but several are tied to optional side activities. One of the more specific ones is the “Davy Jones’s Locker” trophy/achievement, which asks you to reach the lowest point on the map. The big question for many players is simple: where is that point, and how do you actually get there? Here’s the complete route and what to do when the unlock doesn’t happen immediately.

The Gold Locket is one of the local event quests in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remastered that asks players to travel to the island of Florida.

Where to Swim to the Lowest Point for “Davy Jones’s Locker” in AC Black Flag Remastered

The map’s lowest depth is at the underwater wreck location called “The Black Trench,” found in the Castillo de Jagua area in the northwest part of the map. When you open your map, the coordinates are 184,425.

You can’t reach this spot until you’ve finished Sequence 06’s “Diving for Medicines” quest. Completing it also unlocks the Diving Bell, which is what you’ll use to explore additional submerged shipwreck locations across the world.

Once you’re ready, go to “The Black Trench,” then use the Diving Bell to descend underwater. When you gain control of Edward, move forward and angle to the right until you spot a large wreck. You’re on the right track if you notice jellyfish drifting around the shipwreck and a big rock face sitting to your left.

There’s also a shark in the area that may try to attack while you swim past the wreck, so keep your focus. When it spots you, a white targeting-style indicator will begin filling on screen.

As you push onward, swim toward the far end of the shipwreck. There you’ll find an air barrel attached to the wreck that you can use to top up your oxygen. This is a good place to do it, because the next section involves deeper swimming where you don’t want to be scrambling for air.

From the air barrel, dive straight down into the rocky trench below. Keep swimming downward until you reach the very bottom. The key step now is to swim around and locate a broken diving bell on the ocean floor. Once Edward reaches that spot, the “Davy Jones’s Locker” trophy/achievement should trigger.

Why the Trophy Might Not Pop Immediately (And How to Fix It)

The unlock is described as “should,” because players have reported inconsistent results. In one attempt, the unlock happened while Edward was essentially swimming into the floor near the broken diving bell. In other tests, teammates swam down directly to the broken diving bell, but the trophy/achievement didn’t register right away—leading them to suspect they weren’t at the true lowest map point.

  • After diving into the trench, don’t rush—use the air barrel before you descend so you have time to adjust your positioning.
  • Swim around the broken diving bell multiple times and make sure Edward is actually touching the ocean floor.
  • If it still won’t unlock, give it a few more tries; the trigger can be finicky about contact and exact placement.
  • If you’re stuck, end the deep dive, return to the Jackdaw, and attempt the route again from the Diving Bell.
  • As a last resort, it may be buggy—so a future patch could be needed to correct the condition.

If problems persist, try ending the dive, heading back to the Jackdaw, and running the sequence again. If that doesn’t help either, the most likely remaining explanation is that the trophy/achievement behavior is glitchy, and a fix would require an update from Ubisoft.

If you want more help with other optional objectives, there are also guides for getting the “Owned” trophy/achievement and for using Blackbeard’s treasure map as you continue your pirate assassin adventure.
