The Sage’s Buried Secret Walkthrough: Mayan Temple Puzzle Guide

The Sage’s Buried Secret is the 17th main-story mission in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This mission walkthrough takes you through the Mayan Temple, outlining what you need to do along the way and calling out key puzzle moments so you can push deeper into the ruins and keep the mission moving.

Checklists

The Sage’s Buried Secret is the seventeenth mission in the main storyline of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This walkthrough covers your route from the Mayan Temple, including the objectives you’ll complete during the mission and any Collectibles you can grab while you’re there.

How to Start The Sage’s Buried Secret

The Sage’s Buried Secret starts immediately after Nothing is True…. You’ll spawn inside the Mayan Temple, and your first task is to follow Kidd. Keep pace by staying on the route and using parkour to keep up as you move through the temple corridors.

Eventually, you’ll reach a bridge. Kidd will run ahead, but the bridge collapses beneath him, meaning you can’t just jump across and follow the same line.

Your solution is to take a different route by climbing along the branches on the northern wall to reach the other side.

Puzzle 1

Once you reach the last branch, jump directly across to the red block. Remain on it until it falls and makes contact with the ground.

Then move to the blue block and repeat the process. When both blocks have been lowered, the door ahead will unlock, letting you and Kidd continue deeper into the temple.

Push onward east into the next room, where you’ll encounter the second puzzle. This one works a bit differently than the first.

Puzzle 2

In this puzzle, you and Kidd must work together to adjust the dial until the red segment lines up underneath the red block. When the alignment is correct, hop onto the red block to drop it into place.

After you pass through the next door, you’ll enter a room with a broken mechanism. To continue, you’ll need to dive down and swim toward the southeast.

From there, dive again and swim northeast through the tunnel to reach the next room.

Keep following Kidd and climb up to the next section of the temple. This leads you to another puzzle.

Puzzle 3

For the final puzzle, you need to place the green block, red block, and blue block into their matching sections on the dial. As you approach, you’ll notice the blocks are currently in the wrong spots:

  • The red block is sitting in the green section
  • The blue block is sitting in the red section

To fix this, you’ll have to use the counterweights on either side (these are the uncolored blocks). Jump onto a counterweight to lift the colored block above it, then rotate the dial so the correct colored section sits underneath the block before placing it.

  • Jump onto the counterweight to lift the blue block upward
  • Rotate the dial so the blue section sits underneath the blue block
  • Jump onto the blue block so you can insert it into its matching section
  • Rotate the dial so the red section is now where the blue section was
  • Jump onto the counterweight to lift it
  • Rotate the dial so the red section sits underneath the red block
  • Jump onto the red block and insert it
  • Rotate the dial so the green section sits underneath the green block
  • Jump onto the green and insert the block

Once every box is in the correct position, the doors will open. After the cutscene, you’ll receive the Blowpipe, and the next mission will begin automatically.
