Ovie Ejaria Seeks New Club via LinkedIn After Oviedo Relegation

Ovie Ejaria has turned to LinkedIn in his search for a new club, with the former Liverpool, Rangers and Reading midfielder available as a free agent at the start of the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old, who made eight La Liga appearances for Oviedo last term before the Spanish side were relegated, published an open message outlining his availability. Ejaria said he is seeking the right project and can operate as a No 6, No 8 or No 10, as well as on the left wing.

Ejaria outlines his availability

1. Ejaria listed previous spells with Liverpool, Sunderland, Rangers and Reading on his professional profile while inviting approaches from clubs looking for a midfielder or left-sided attacker.
2. The London-born player wrote that he is unattached and encouraged contacts with a suitable opening to send him a direct message.
3. As an out-of-contract player, he can join a club outside the usual transfer-window timetable.
4. He remains eligible to play international football for Nigeria, despite having represented England at Under-21 level.

Rangers spell included European high point

Ejaria joined Rangers from Liverpool on a season-long loan for the 2018-19 campaign, working under Steven Gerrard. His most significant contribution came during the club’s Europa League play-off against FC Ufa in August 2018.

1. Connor Goldson’s header gave Rangers a 1-0 advantage after the first leg at Ibrox.
2. In the return fixture at Neftyanik Stadium a week later, Ejaria scored early in a 1-1 draw in Russia.
3. That result sent Rangers into the Europa League group stage.

Gerrard praised the midfielder after the Ufa tie, describing the display as Ejaria’s best full 90 minutes for Rangers to that point. The Rangers manager said the player had previously shown promising periods and individual flashes, but had now produced an authoritative performance throughout against strong opposition.

However, Ejaria’s time in Glasgow ended in December 2018 when he chose to curtail the loan and return to Liverpool. Gerrard said he was disappointed by the decision, believing the midfielder had been presented with an outstanding chance at Rangers.

After spells across English, Scottish and Spanish football, Ejaria will now hope that his record and positional versatility help him secure a swift return to the professional game.
