Manchester United sweat on Patrick Dorgu after Denmark injury scare
Manchester United face another fitness concern after Dorgu was forced off during Denmark’s home match against Wales in Copenhagen on Monday night.
The 20-year-old started on the right side for Denmark but required treatment after 30 minutes. Denmark’s medical staff decided he could not continue, and Dorgu left the pitch limping before heading straight down the tunnel.
Reims forward Mohamed Daramy replaced him. The nature and extent of Dorgu’s problem had not been confirmed immediately, with Denmark head coach Brian Riemer expected to address the situation after the final whistle.
United’s injury list grows during international break
The issue comes at an awkward point for Michael Carrick, whose Manchester United squad has already been affected by several international-window withdrawals and fitness problems.
Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo both withdrew from the England squad to continue their recoveries. Club captain Bruno Fernandes also sustained a knock while on Portugal duty last week.
Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt were not involved with their respective national-team groups, instead remaining at Carrington to manage existing physical concerns.
Dorgu has featured six times in all competitions for United this season and has supplied two assists. His availability will now be monitored ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
Key fixtures approaching
United are 12th after taking five points from their first five league matches, leaving Carrick’s side under pressure to improve a slow start to the campaign.
Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Leeds United are next in quick succession, a sequence that will test the depth of a squad already carrying a number of injury doubts.
