Saturday’s Serie A meeting at the Stadio Olimpico puts the division’s only perfect sides together. Roma lead Inter on goal difference ahead of the 5 p.m. BST kickoff, with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side seeking the club’s first Scudetto since 2001.

Roma have scored 12 times and allowed only one goal in four league fixtures. Donyell Malen has struck six goals, while Paulo Dybala has supplied four assists.

Inter arrive as champions and winners of two of the previous three Italian title races. Their record against Roma is also imposing: 10 wins and two defeats in the past 12 encounters since 2021.

Roma’s defensive form gives the hosts a narrow edge, with a 2-1 home victory the expected outcome.

Madrid rivals chase Barcelona

Sunday’s derby at the Metropolitano, kicking off at 3.15 p.m. BST, offers Real Madrid and Atlético a chance to strengthen their position behind unbeaten leaders Barcelona. It will be the 244th meeting of the city rivals.

José Mourinho’s Real are three points behind Barça after losing 1-0 at Real Betis on September 4. Kylian Mbappé has nevertheless made a fast start, registering seven LaLiga goals.

Atlético sit third, another two points back, after a mixed opening that included a home draw with Villarreal and a 3-0 defeat at Athletic Club. Diego Simeone’s team have responded with seven goals without reply against Real Sociedad and Osasuna, and Julián Álvarez could return from a muscle problem.

Real have greater depth and remain favourites, although Atlético’s improved run makes the contest less straightforward. A 3-1 away win is forecast.

Brighton test Arsenal’s clean start

Arsenal travel to Brighton on Saturday with an unbeaten record intact and growing discussion around whether Mikel Arteta’s champions can emulate the 2004 Invincibles. The Gunners have won seven from seven in all competitions and conceded only three goals.

The Amex Stadium represents a serious examination. Brighton lead the Premier League scoring chart with 13 goals from four matches and overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Manchester United 3-2 in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

Fabian Hürzeler’s previous disagreement with Arteta over Arsenal’s approach last season adds another layer to the occasion. Arsenal rotated important players for Tuesday’s cup victory at Ipswich Town, while Brighton fielded a stronger side at Old Trafford a day later.

Fatigue could therefore favour the visitors in Saturday’s 3 p.m. BST game. Arsenal are tipped to win 2-0.

Rosenior faces his former club in Paris

Liam Rosenior takes Paris FC into Saturday’s Ligue 1 fixture with Strasbourg at Stade Jean-Bouin, where his recent connections to the visitors will be in focus. Rosenior led Strasbourg last season, working with several Chelsea loanees under BlueCo’s shared ownership structure.

He moved to Chelsea in January after Enzo Maresca’s dismissal, but that spell lasted 23 difficult games. The 42-year-old has since overseen an unbeaten opening with Paris FC, who are fourth.

Strasbourg are sixth, and Paris can move top with victory should second-placed Monaco fail to beat Lens on Friday. Strasbourg have the most porous defence among the teams in the top half, making a 2-0 Paris FC result the likely call.

Porto and Benfica put unbeaten records on the line

Porto host Benfica on Friday at 8.30 p.m. BST in a meeting between the leading pair in Portugal. Five teams remain undefeated after six rounds, but Porto and Benfica have created daylight between themselves and the rest.

Champions Porto have won all six league matches under Francesco Farioli and have not lost a league fixture at the Estádio do Dragão since April 2025. That last defeat was a 4-1 loss to Benfica, inspired by a Vangelis Pavlidis hat trick.

Marco Silva’s Benfica have five wins and one draw, while Pavlidis tops the scoring race with eight league goals. Porto’s home sequence will be tested, but the sides appear evenly matched and a 2-2 draw is anticipated.

Old Firm stakes rise at Celtic Park

Celtic and Rangers meet for the 454th time on Sunday, with the long-running head-to-head separated by a single win. Rangers have 173 victories and Celtic 172.

Martin O’Neill’s Celtic have won each of their six league outings and stand five points clear of Rangers, who have one defeat and one draw. Rangers, however, go to Celtic Park after winning 3-0 at Ibrox in the League Cup last Sunday.

Derek McInnes, appointed from Hearts during the summer, has endured an uneven beginning as Rangers manager, but last week’s win changed the mood around his tenure. Millwall and West Ham renew an old London rivalry

West Ham’s Championship trip to Millwall on Saturday is the 100th edition of the Dockers Derby and the first meeting between the clubs since February 2012. The rivalry stems from labour disputes at now-closed dockyards in the early 1900s, with the hostility between the fanbases enduring despite infrequent fixtures.

West Ham lead the Championship after last season’s Premier League relegation and begin as favourites at The Den. Millwall, managed by Alex Neil, reached the playoffs last term and have not lost a home match against West Ham since 1988.
